Hi there,

Has anyone had this done before, I am very nervous as i dont know what they are going to find etc.

My husband count is ok, but they want to check me just in case there is something wrong, even though i have got pregnant with my first husband. No luck with new husband you see.

Are you talking about an HSG (dye test -x-ray)? If so, then yes, I had one done last week...

Yes its a dye where they look at tubes etc, where its key hole surgery near your belly button, i need a general anasthetic.

I've had that done - I had no pain at all after I woke up, and I only have two tiny scars (one at the bottom of my belly button and one a bit further down and you don't even notice them). Happy to answer any questions about it!

I'm in a similar position as you Lisa - I have one child from first husband, then another child who's 21 months old and we've been ttc #3 since he was born and nothing. Have you been trying long?

The good thing about this (as well as the fact that it's relatively non-invasive) is that you know the results as soon as you wake up, as they use the camera to view the dye going down the tubes. Think I was a bit too drugged to follow exactly what the surgeon was saying when I came round but he did tell me straight away!

I had severe peritonitis years ago, which left me with lots of abdominal pain (for months afterwards) and adhesions. After the lap and dye I was told that one tube is completely blocked, and the other is partially blocked (a small amount of dye passed down it but not as much as they would have wanted to see). The partially blocked side was surrounded by scar tissue (so much that you couldn't even see the ovary on a scan), and I was advised that I was very unlikely to get pregnant without IVF. Less than 2 years later I got pregnant naturally (and that was without actively trying, as we didn't think it was likely to happen!)...so whatever the outcome of the test, don't let it stress you out too much. Hope it goes well for you x
