CD90

My fiance and I decided to start TTC back in Feb. My cycle was normal up until that point... then it stopped. Just stopped. For no reason that I can think of. Today makes CD90 and I'm at a loss. I started agnus castus extract a week ago so I'm hoping that does something. But other than that, I don't know what to do. Lovie is a UK citizen. I am not. I'm only here on a 6-month holiday so I can't go see a doctor here. I'm here for another 3 months at least and I'm worried that that's far too long to wait and could possibly be putting myself in danger by not getting checked.

I guess I just need some assurance that things will be ok and someone else has been in this situation before. :-/

First off... Welcome to BnB!

Im not sure how it works over in the UK, but I think if you go see a Dr, they cant refuse service..... I dont think its normal for a Period to just stop... for 3 months if you are normally regular.... When was the last time you tested? I would test again just to be sure you are not pregnant....

I'd get checked too,wow that's a long time, doesn't mean that something is seriously wrong but you should find out why you haven't gotten your period for so long.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah. I've taken about 5 tests... that last one about 2 weeks ago. All say negative. Besides, I've had no other pregnancy symptoms.

And I'm pretty sure the Drs can refuse service if you can't pay... just like anywhere else (unless it's life threatening trauma). I don't qualify for their free healthcare (NHS) and I don't have the money to pay outright. :-/

Does anyone know if PCOS can do this without other symptoms? I mean, I've completely quit ovulating as well... my temps stay a steady 36.0C. I had some weight gain when I first got here in Feb but that stopped. That was about 20lbs.... but I've had fast, unexpected weight gain (and loss) before that didn't affect my cycle at all. I've stopped taking most of the medications that I was on as well as quite smoking and drinking. I've started eating healthier and I'm more active and am taking pre-natals to make sure I'm getting all of my vitamins... and yet my cycle still does nothing. Physically and mentally, I'm better than I ever have been before. Except for this. :-/

Do you have health insurance where you are from? If so, I would call them and tell them you are in a different country and need to see a Dr.... See if they will cover the visit....

Welcome to the forum. I agree with the other girls, I'd get it checked out. Good luck.

CD 96 has come and gone and still nothing. We popped into a clinic today that I *thought* did family planning stuff but turned out they were strictly an STI clinic... talked to the Dr. about the problem anyway and he said that it doesn't sound life threatening and it can probably wait until I get home (he didn't actually do an exam or anything, though).

He did go ahead and run a pregnancy test... just in case. I'll get the result next week.

So yeah... it's looking more and more live we're not going to be able to try to get pregnant this time around. And it'll probably be close to a year before we'll have the chance to try again.

Hey - I have had a similar problem (no period since January) and all the doctors have said it isn't anything to be worried about so please have some reasurrance from that! I have been diagnosed with PCOS - and yes you can have it without any obvious symptoms (e.g. bad skin, a lot of hair growth, overweight) which has caused me to stop ovulating. As with you I have never missed a period before until I started TTC!! Typical huh? I was referred to a gynae and have just started on metformin which regulates insulin and can help with ovulation. But they also told me it could be becuase I have put on half a stone over the last 6 months and if i lose that it could bring back my periods and ovulation - and I am not in any way overweight - I'm a size 10! 9 stone 10 and 5ft 8ins but they said that sometimes even a small weight gain can make a difference. So I would advise keeping taking the agnus castus (apparently it takes at least a month to have any effect), trying and keep to a low GI diet and not have ANY alcohol or sugary things and do gentle exercise to lose a bit of weight. If nothing has changed after 3 months then go and see your doctor in your own country but don't worry if you can't get an appointment here in the UK. Even if you get an appointment they will probably just tell you to lose weight, diet and exercise and in general they won't do anything on the NHS until you've not conceived for 12 months.

Hope that helps and reassures you!

Thanks Isabella. I've just decided to give up for now... even if I *do* get my period back it's too late to try to conceive... and by the time we'll be able to try again, I'll be in that "high-risk" age and will be too scared to try.

kids just weren't meant for us I guess.
