Hi

Hi everyone i'm new and just wanted to say hello to everyone. Im Sarah, 20, live in Northern Ireland with my fiancee and have been together for 4 years. My partner had a vasectomy years ago after his daughter was born but we are desperate to try for our own baby and have just received an appointment to go and see a Urologist on my 21st birthday (15th May). Hoping that they are going to suggest ICSI, is anyone else having or thinking of having ICSI? I'd really love a chat - to anyone really, think i'm going mad!

Thanks Sarah xx

Hi Sarah,
welcome to Baby & Bump.
My partner also has a vasectomy about 6 years ago but... as you will see from my ticker i am 17 weeks pregnant.
we however did not have fertility treatment. my oh had his vasectomy reversed in Aug and we conceived in december.

Yes but he's had his vasctomy done 13 years ago, the odds of it working are stacked against us, hoping the doc will suggest a course of ICSI. I have been doing a lot of resarch and it is possible but not sure if they offer it in N.I.

Hi sarah

I live in NI too, and had my first consultation with the specialist at the royal a few weeks ago. I believe the waiting time is close to 12 months for NHS treatment, but they may be able to accommodate on a private basis within roughly 6 months. I think they do carry out ICSI at the royal, as this was mentioned by a previous consultant at dundonald hospital.

If you don't fancy waiting you could check out origin, although their prices are quite steep. Or, as I am doing at present, there's always the foreign option....

Good luck with your appointment. I'm sure they'll explain the right procedure for you and your OH.
