PCOS and DH has a low count

My DH and I are being reffered to the assisted unit as I've been told I have PCOS and DH has a low count, we don't know how low as the FS wouldn't tell us. The FS was horrible basically telling us we don't have a chance naturally and the only way is ICSI, doner or adoption.

I want to prove him wrong!!!!

Can anyone offer any advice for PCOS and any ways of improving DH low count. We have to wait a month for a refferal and I'll do anything to improve our chances.

Hi
Sorry don't have any advice on PCOS but generally improving eating habits would be good for you both. For DH the usual no hot baths, boxers and avoid laptop on laps. There are many people here who have seen an improvement in counts after improving life styles and taking supplements. A good multi vitamin for DH along with MACA can help.

What a horrible FS. He could have at least given you counts so you could judge for yourself. Ours also said only have a chance with ICSI. However when we went to assisted conception, they have been more encouraging. Even said natural is possible.

Hope u do prove him wrong.

Good luck!

xxx

hi ladies, i have PCOS and low count as well. It's really hard to deal with. Why wouldn't he give you the counts? I would insist.
We have been told ICSI is our only option, dont think IUI is an option as count is 3mil per ml.

if he won't give them to you, apply for them via the hospital - freedom of information, youre entitled to it!!!

Thank you all for your advice.

The FS was just not very helpful at all. We just seemed another number to him and he wanted us out of the door as soon as possible.

We've decided to go for a private appointment with an FS that works at the same hospital but private also. We've heard great things about him so we are hoping he can help us more.

DH is currently taking zinc and wellman vits, he doesn't smoke and only the occasional drink. He's now cutting alcohol out all together. We are going to give the GI diet a go as well it's suppose to be good for PCOS so I'm going to see what happens. I'm also going to have a go at racquet ball with DH as for exercise. We use to go to the gym 3 times a week but since we got married June 09 and with work we haven't been able to find the time.

It's reassuring knowing that we are not the only couple going through this.

Come on ladies lets show them that there wrong and we will get our BFP!!!!!

xxxx

Hi aclio, i was diagnosed with pcos about 10 years ago and have mine quite well managed now, my dh has recently had his Vasectomy reversed however this has failed so we don't actually have any sperm being produced! From your point of view, are you on any meds? I can prob offer more advice on pcos than your hubby's problem as this only a new problem for us too!

nichub83 - I was told I had PCOS when I was 15 (now 28) but I was put on the pill. Since coming off the pill my periods have been no existent. I had my HSG which was clear and my internal ultra sound confirmed the PCOS last week but the FS wouldn't tell me anymore.

I'm on no medication for the PCOS I was hoping he was going to prescribe Clomid to kick start everything but he just wanted to pack us off to the Assisted unit.

I would be happy with any advice you could offer me?
Thank you

Aclio - Im from Yorkshire and am wondering which FS you saw???? Cos thats exactly what my f/s wanted to do with me and my hubby (same as you and yours!) but I wouldnt accept that iui or ivf was the only way. We too m/c last year so I said I wanted 6 months of clomid and thats to start with, I can have more or higher doses if req'd. The way we see it is if we did it once we can do it again!
Try another f/s and ask to give clomid a go. Its my 3 cycle and still no bfp but its early days still and its making me feel more positive each month that goes by! My DH is on wellman tablets and green tea and cool baths and no laptops etc etc. xxx

Rudeollie - My appointment was at Jessops at Sheffield Dr Barclay. We've booked an appointment for Wednesday with a private FS who fingers crossed will be more helpful. I just can't accept that ICSI is the only option we have surely Clomid would be abetter option first. Even if DH levels are low doesn't mean they are none existence.

What doctor are you under?
