Questions to ask my doctor

Hi

I've have finally plucked up the courage to go back to the DR and ask them to do some more checks on me. (brief update - i was referred to FS last June and had all the bloods done and was told I have unexplained infertility and put on an IVF waiting list).

Basically im going back to the Dr cos Im not happy with the diagnosis - how can they say its unexplained when they havent checked for endo or blocked tubes or anything like that. So im gonna ask the DR the following:

1) can I get a HSG done to see if my tubes are blocked
2) can I get a Lap done to see if I have endo (is the HSG and the lap done together or seperately?)

What other things should I ask for? I had all the bloods done and I do Ovulate. Is there anything else I should ask for?

Any help or ideas would be grately appreciated.

Hi,
Yes I think you should ask for a Lap & Dye or an HSG. They both check tubes but Lap & Dye can also check for other problems so its more detailed I think. So you only need one of those.

I don't know why they have called u unexplained without checking ur tubes first. Good Luck! When is ur appointment?

Hi - thanks for the reply, unfortunately the appointment isnt until monday week - 22nd March - thats the first appointment my surgery had (crazy).

I totally hate/dread the thought of the lap & dye but cant keep putting it off. And yeah how can they say unexplained without even checking my tubes etc - not happy about that at all but i;ve let the months go by without doing anything about it - cos im nervous and thought I might get a BFP but still no sign of one so better get a proper check.

I know how u feel. I was terrified of Lap& Dye but its very easy, nothing to be scared of. In the beginning I delayed everything because I was afraid and also because I kept hoping it would happen naturally. I do hope it happens for u soon naturally but its a good idea to get checked.

Thanks Bigfoot - its delaying things for me too and I just cant take it anymore. Need to get to the bottom of this unexplained diagnosis - at least if I know its endo I can stop trying so hard and just relax and if its not meant to be then its not meant to be....

Or I should look on the bright side and if its endo and they remove most of it then I might get my BFP within a few months!

Positive thoughts from now on.........
