advice on clomid and what to do while waiting for specialist appt

Hello.
My husband and I have been TTC for 19 months, we did get pregnant last April but a dating scan showed a silent m/c at 10 weeks and I had to have an ERPC. Since coming off the pill in July 08, my cycles have been very irregular- from 38 to 92 days. In Oct last year my GP gave me 3 cycles of Clomid- regulating my cycles to between 33 and 45 days. As we haven't managed to conceive I was referred to a fertility clinic and went last week. The dr organised bllod tests at 2 different times in my cycle- one between day 1 and 5 and the other 7 days after home ov kits show positive. I have used these in the past but they have been misleading- showing positive for 7 days and several times during my cycles. I have to wait until the end of April for my next appt with the specialist with just blood tests in between. Does anyone know if I can take another cycle of Clomid in the meantime as another 2 and a half months to wait on top pf the 19 we have already is torture. I can't get to see my own GP until the beg of March. I am 37 and the specialist said that the cut off for IVF is 34 so we wouldn't get that on the NHS. I left there completely crushed and am losing hope that it will ever happen for us. Any advice would be welcome.

I think the cut off for ivf depends on your pct. You dont want to take more than 6 clomid cycles as it can increase the chance of ovarian cancer, however if you had a months worth of tablets I would take these. Obviously if you dont have the tablets you will need to see you gp,who may be reluctant if you are waiting for your referral.

I did this in the wait for a fs appointment and got pregnant in the meantime.

Another thing I did, and it worked for me, but could be a bit hit of miss is call the hospital to see if there are any cancellations for an earlier appointment. Its amazing how many people fall pregnant waiting for the initial consultation. they may keep a cancellation list if you could attend at short notice??

I understand the urgence and would suggest giving the cancellation route a go? Best of luck. XXX

Thanks Martine, My GP said she could give me another 50mg of Clomid but as fertility might want me to take higher dose best to wait or they will only be able to give me 2 months of it. I phoned the hospital earlier about cancellations and although she said there is a long waiting list at least we are on it so that's a step in the right direction
