I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi, I was finally oficially diagnosed with endometriosis in 2003 after a lap. I'd always had "problem" periods but the real serious pain started when I was 16 - now they reckon the endo started to grow after I had my appendix out when I was 16.
Anway, after the first lap I was young and didn't really know that much about endo, just followed what the Dr told me. I was never given a follow up appointment and no further treatment, after 6 month my endo came back. What I've learnt is (and I've had another op) you really need hormone treatment after the lap or you need to get pregnant pretty soon otherwise the op is redundant. Normally you can start trying for a baby within 6-8 weeks of the op, and you should have much better chances of conceiving than before. After my 2 pregnancies the endometriosis has gone (I'm lucky, it's not always the case but there's a strong chance of it happening) and for the first time since I was 12 I'm not on the pill or painkillers and I feel great! Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had one in October 2004. We had been ttc for 2 years. Originally told me I would be awake with just one camera/tube, but when I got there they put me under and put two in - one through my belly button. The results were all clear.
It took me a little while to recover (til about Christmas) and it was a bit uncomfortable, but the wound was a little bit infected so put that down to that. I know people who just had the one camera and had no trouble at all.
As soon as the infection was all clear and I had a normal cycle I found out I was pg - woohoo. Don't know for sure if it was because of the lap, but the specialist told me that usually women get pg within 3 months of having the op.
The following October on the exact same date I had the lap the prev year I gave birth to my gorgeous ds, who is now 2 1/2 and well worth the wait. TTC#2 now so hoping it will be an easier process!
Good luck and there is nothing to worry about - message me if you have any specific questions. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Pregnant during laparoscopy Hi,
I miscarried a natural pregnancy in August 2006, tried for a year but to no avail.
I had a laparoscopy in November 2007 (to clear things up a bit). My surgeon explained that my fallopian tubes were so badly damaged that I should have them both removed and go on to have ivf.
so, I endured a 2nd laparoscopy on 20th February 2008 and both of my tubes were removed - not something I felt happy about. 6 weeks later, I discovered I was NINE WEEKS pregnant . Although incredibly happy, I wonder how the tiny little thing managed to survive the operation and the heavy blood loss which followed - a miracle. Was the operation necessary? Couldn't they have done a pregnancy test b4hand?
In answer to your question - I think perhaps the 1st op did make a difference as we conceived naturally 3 months later.

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had one in 1998 and did have mild endemetriosis. The op itself really isnt that big of a deal but they do pump you full of alot of gas so they can see what they are doing which leave you with awful trapped wind for a couple of days! Scarring is so small is practically invisible, one tiny mark in my public line and one in my belly button.
I got told all sorts of scary 'worst case senario' stuff by one doctor but another one put it into perspective. It really is a sliding scale and [i]may[i] mean you will find it a little harder to concieve but I wasnt even trying and it just happened...so please try not to worry too much! Stay away from google! You will drive yourself barmy! | | | | Status: Offline
