Sorry TMI (probably way too much TMI actually) - My period, most months anyway, can be so heavy at the beginning and I have lots of clots of blood on the first or second day. Generally after that, it's just like a regular period. I'm concerned that either something is wrong or that I'm having chemical pregnancies almost every month without even realising it. I had a chemical last month - positive pregnancy test, period late then it came about 4 or 5 days late. The bleeding I'm having now is almost identical to that but I tested yesterday and the day before and BFN. Is it normal to pass quite large clots at the beginning? I can't remember what my periods were like before I went on the pill, all I do remember is how bad the period pains were. When I was on the pill, my periods were virtually non existent, so light that if I'd wanted to, I could have just got away with using pantyliners.

I've been to my doctors about not falling pregnant and I have spoken to her about my periods. I was then referred to the hospital to a FS so am undergoing tests but they don't seem overly concerned about my periods being so heavy and clotty.

My periods are exactly the same, heavy and clotty and they are def not pregnancies lol we are having ICSI soon. When I was on the pill they were lighter and i could almost forget about them. Now, it takes over my life for 3 days, I get panicky about leaking, feel awful, sick diahorrea etc. Such hodeous cramps sometimes Im in bed for a day in agony. Its really unpleasant but not much I can do about it at the moment, cant go on the pill, just have to hope im pregnant soon!! U sound like one of the unlucky ones like me hun

I do have awful periods. Sounds like you might actually have it worse than me. I get really bad period pains but if I can catch them in time with a couple of painkillers, I'm generally alright. It's just the heaviness that concerns me. I did google it once and I found something that said the blood has to clot in order for the bleeding to stop - but if that's the case, I don't understand why I never had that when on the pill. Oh well, as long as I get my sticky BFP one day (soon), I don't mind x

I don't get many periods naturally (so if you do - honey, you're one of the lucky ones, no matter how awful it feels at the time) but when I do, or even most of the chemically induced ones, they've been similar to what you describe.

Certainly when I was younger and on the pill to 'make me feel normal' I used to bleed so heavily that I'd soak a pad an hour (resorted to changing pads in the back seat of the car one year on a family holiday with my dad and bro - they never noticed a thing. My mum had died the year before and my dad didn't want to acknowledge my growing up I guess - we were in a supermarket getting shopping in, I had my horrific heavy period going on and put a pack on sanitary towels on the conveyor - he just picked up a 'next customer' separater and made me pay for my own sanitary towels, completely ignoring the fact that I'd put them in his shopping, or indeed that I was his daughter at all.

I guess because of my experiences I always very quick and ready to give up on periods at all, and to this day, quite frankly, I'm glad I don't have them. As much as it would make predicting babies easier, at the end of the day the amount of hassle and money I've saved from not having periods for the last ten years, I guess it sort of provides consolation for the disappointment we're getting now..

On a plus note - Paramol is very effective in treating severe pain. I use it for migraines and for when the doc decides I've went for too long without clearing out my womb.

I pass a lot of clots and tissue even during my periods since being off the pill. This is totally normal

Hi, I get horrid periods too. Lots of clots and very painful. I usually have to wear two types of sanitary protection but have been caught out lots of time with flooding yuck!! Actually it was quite distressing when it first started. I have discussed this with FS and they told me its nothing to worry about, they advised if you get lots of clots not to wear tampons as they clots cannot come out as easily and can cause more pain.

Thats interesting MissMonty I have never got on with tampons I wonder if thats why? If only used them twice, once when I came on unexpectedly at my friends wedding when I was wearing a white skirt and on holiday. I was so aware it was there the whole time, I couldnt feel it, but I just didnt like the thought of it being there. Oh well a good cure for periods is A PREGNANCY!!! Here's to 9 months period freeeeeeee hopefully for you girls!!!
