feeling so down-any help will be greatly received

Hi all,

My husband and I have only be trying to concieve for 6 months. Which i know isnt long at all. I havent had a period since coming off the pill so i have a gynaecology appointment booked in January.

I also did a home sperm test on my oh and it came out negative (borderline i think). We didnt give it long enough before testing, plus he wasn't 100% and also he had been in the suana that day (he has stopped since). So there is some contributing factors in there but we are too scared to test again.

The thing is that i cant seem to control my emotions. All i think about every day is wanting to have a baby, to be pregnant. I am so down, i cant concentrate and im making close people around me suffer with my constant grumpyness and unhappyness! plus theres the awfull feeling that i cant stand being around pregnant women!!!!! Its driving me crazy i just want to be me again so im asking if there are any tips or ways to try and tame this? i.e hypnotherapy, acupuncture anything that would help. As i say we have only being trying for 6 months so i need to get this under raps otherwise we wont get pregnant due to my emotional state!

Thanks all

melx

Hi

I'm not sure this is going to be much help hun but you will have times like this when ttc. Some days you breeze through it and others it feels like it is the end of the world. The only advice I can offer you is to have something to focus on - appointments, deadlines - like your app in Jan.

I had accupunture but never had a problem with af, it might be worth looking into, but can get pricey. I'm not sure I'd trust the home tests, they only look at the numbers and there are lots of other factors too, you should be able to convince oh's gp to give him a sperm test. Or if you can afford it, look into private testing for you both. It's a couple of hundred pounds but might put your mind at rest.

Lots of luck

xx

Hiya! How your feeling is totally normal and we all feel like it, but sometimes it just feels worse than others. Unfortunately theres no easy way to get rid of these feelings, you just learn how to deal with them over time.

As for the sperm test my dh done one of these over a year ago and it came out really bad so we assumed it was down to that why we weren't concieving, however we had a proper test done a couple of months later only to find out that he had 'superman sperm' (as the dr put it! lol!) and the problem was actually with me (PCOS). So these tests should really not be trusted.

There are always options for everyone no matter what the problems are so i know its really difficult but you have to try and look into the future.

Good luck at your appointment in the new year!

My biggest piece of advice is for you to turn off the computer and stay off the message boards on a regular basis. As SUPPORTIVE as they are (and we all need them) sometimes it can become all encompassing and somewhat of an addiction to hear other stories and listen and give advice. At least that's how it is for me. The more I'm on the boards, the more I think about my own personal situation when I'm off the boards. So, sometimes you have to get back to the business of living. Allow yourself an hour a day (or whatever is appropriate for your schedule) to completely obsess about this area of your life. After that, no more. Focus on family and friends and anything else that can be a distraction. It's not easy, not for me anyhow but I find that it helps.
Good luck with your journey! I hope your appointment goes well!!!

thankyou all so much for your responses.

I have tried cutting off from here for a bit which did help for a short period of time but unfortunatly didnt last and this is my first post since.

I will try to focus on my appointment in january its hopefully only next week, it just depends when my blood results come through. I am seeing the gynaecologist privately and my husband has private insurance also so we shall push from him having a sperm test so fingers crossed.

I haveto say it is good hearing on here other people feeling the same as me, i was starting to worry that i was loosing it. It has also reassured my hubby that i havent lost it also.
