we hav our where do we go frm here appt beginin of feb, so far frm 2 sa's we had low results...could any1 share what happened at their appts please? Just so im prepared...will they offer ivf str8 away? Or suggest other options 1st b4 ivf? Already tried clomid 4me, herd they try it on sum men? Just dnt wana get my hopes up too much. Here sa results 9%progression 58% immotile, 15% normal (borderline normal) cant remember any mre off the top of my head....thank u...any info greatly appreciated...x good luck x x

Hi hun well ive been trying to concieve for 5 years i got refered for help 3 and a half years ago.they did all the tests (hsg, blood test,scans) DH sperm test,blood test hsg normal scan showed PCOS DH has low sperm morphology(bloodtest was normal).i was put on clomid for 6 cycles had 2 chemicals on it was then sent for another appoitment in oct 09 to see what was going to happen next, we had an hour in a half consulataion where they decide that only option would be IVF we are now waiting for our first IVF consultation which will probably take place some time in the new year.

they will probably offer you IVF as its more likely to work then IUI

thank you... I knw time btwn appts an referals an all the tests take ages...!! I hav an appt end of jan which im guessin they may send me 4 day 3+4 bloods i only had day 21 blood+ another 2bloods cant remember what they were 4 but wasnt took on any days in particular...so ur where do we go frm here appt was in oct? + wasit til in new yr to b treated? I knw its not goin to b a quick process, but a few more monthswont kill me...doesnt help me an db r both impatient when we want sumthin... . Really appreciate ur reply, wish u all the luck in the world x x

Aug 08 first SA and bloods with GP
Sep 08 repeat SA
Oct 08 Gp referral to FS
Nov 08 first FS appt (luckily got a cancellation)
Jan 09 third SA
Feb 09 put on Ivf waiting list, karotype test for DH
June 09 fourth SA
Sep 09 confirm funding through for IVF cycle, bloods for hep & HIV
Oct 09 FS appt to confirm results
Dec 09 dates for ivf given to start in March 2010.

if they decide to do IVF you'll probably get it done this year depending in your area,it usualy takes 18 weeks from when your nhs funding is accepted.

i have to wait till may for my appoitment and forms for nhs funding.

im 22 so im only allowed to have IVF when i turn 23 which is july so i think by this time next year i should either be pregnant or starting treatment.

how old are you if you dont mind me asking?

i know im impatient to but ive decided to just stop thinking about it and look forward to IVF you never know it could happen naturaly as stressing about it doesent help.

yeah thank you...whats karo type test though? So we hav ad 4sa's by xmas, an feb is our results + where do we go frm here... What is the confirm funding? Does that depend on such issues as age? An previous children, so im guessin we stil hav quite a wait then... oh well we hav the ball rolling...! i hav read threw a link on here sumthin bout 18 wk wait...? What on eartth r them dates frm? Hey hun

Different PCTs have different protocols... some won't offer IVF to under 30s, some offer 3 fully funded cycles and others only offer 1. Our clinic only offers 1 free shot on the NHS but it's better than a kick in the teeth so i'll give it a go!

Because DH's sperm issues were unexplained they ran a karotype test to look into chromosome abnormalities - this ruled out congenital issues being the cause but it took 5 months for the tests to come back.

18 weeks from start to finish for treatment on the NHS only applies to 'general' waiting times in our area NOT fertility treatments - but again it may vary where you are? So basically if you needed a bypass you will be seen before you need IVF... which is guess is fair enough!

So when is your next appt with the clinic? After we had our infertility confirmed we got put on the waiting list - our PCT has a 12 month wait. By the time it starts, we will have waited 13 months for the start of our treatment and 15 by the end.

Have they run all tests on you etc?

After being tested via the GP in August we had a 6 month wait before we were placed on the waiting list... could be sooner in your area?x

hi ladyblush, i am 23, 24 end of jan... Yeah we still ttc naturally, an just waitin round 4 appts...i am lookin 4ward to each appt tho cz it is a step closer...right the 18wk wait is frm funding, i dont knw much about that... well not yet anyway... x x

hi rachelle, i am in manchester, although we being treated in liverpool...my next appt with my fs is 26th jan (they only deal with female side of things) i ad loads of blood tests, ultersound, an tests like a smear...we had 2sa's frm my fs, an now my db has sample 15th+22, then our nxt appt with male fs 2nd feb,,,he said that will b where do we go frm here once my db has had his sa's done at his hsptl lab... My fs basically said frm my results so far im ok, an that they r putting our problem dwn to db sperm + arent too keen on doing mre tests as they feel it is mf issues...she was quite blunt *thank god i went to that appt on my own* our mfs wants my tubes etc tested, as my hsptl only sent one of my db sa results!?!
