Do you have follicle tracking scans funded by the NHS?

Hi girls,

I saw my GP in August as I have PCOS, have long cycles (around 70 days) and TTC.
He referred me to a gynecologist at King's college, Denmark Hill. I booked the appointment for the 21st September. But when they received my GP's letter, the "consultant" cancelled my appointment and transferred me to the Assisted Conception Unit at King's College.
There, my husband and I had some tests confirming my PCOS (which I already knew about) and my husband only has 4% of normal forms (but count rest being ok).

I started metformin on the 22nd October and had my first cycle of clomid (50mg) but the scans showd I didn't respond. So I need to go on next cycle and have another follicule tracking scan

Although my treatments are funded by the NHS, they charge £200 for the follicle tracking scans and I don't understand why tey charge for this...

I was wondering what unit follows you girls and if you have all treatments free.. If not, what do they charge you for?

Hiya

I had follicle tracking free on the nhs. The fs monitore me using ultrasound in the luteal phase of my cycle for a copule of months. Might be different to what you are getting though. Doesn't seem fair that they are charging you xxx

I was on a 100mg of Clomid for 5 cycles and never got tracking. It depends on the region I believe.....the postcode lottery. It's disgusting really.

Hi
I was lucky and got follicle tracking for 5 cycles of Clomid. I think it varies on which PCT you're under.
Good luck

Hi

I live in Tayside in Scotland and have my follicle tracking scans done for free. They are actually really good in the department, I have had 4 this cycle already, which is my first, and am due for another on Thursday. Don't think its fair that this isn;t the norm across the country

I had 6 cycles of clomid and had follicle tracking scans free on all of them. I live in Nottingham and had all my treatment on the NHS. Doesn't sound right that you get some things free but are having to pay for others. As other ladies have said, a lot of places don't off them at all but this is the first time I have heard of anyone paying for them.
