Failed Cycles and Repeat IVF

Ladies... just a quickie.

For those of you unlucky enough to need more than one go of IVF.... how long did you wait between cycles??

I only ask as my clinic makes you wait for 6 months between cycles even FET and i wondered if this is the norm? I'm sure i read that they like you to have 2 periods between IVF cycles but not 6 months!!

Answer on the back of a postcard purlease!!

Hiya
at the end of the day you can decide what to do they can only advise you what they think is the best thing,
my sister was told the same as you. She refused and said she wanted to try again sooner. she got her way and she got pg on her 1st time on the next cycle

Just ask them why they want to wait as they may have a good explanation. 6 months is a long time, so i know what you mean

good luck x

With the NHS it's all about time constraints - they make you wait 6 months AND they make you do long protocol which takes 10 weeks.... enough to make you seriously consider paying!

Isn't it... i think i may have to ask the bank of dad if the free cycle doesn't work!! he said it's my inheritence so i'd better get cracking and ask him as he keeps spending it on cars and personal training

On a serious note, we only get 1 free NHS go anyway so if we aren't first time lucky, then i figure we'll be on cycle 2 at the beginning of summer and worse case scenario, cycle 3 in the autumn x

Aw hun, 6 months?! That's insane. I think it's different here in Aus.

Wishing you lots of luck.

Sounds like it's just my clinic then!! They dont even do the EC and fertilisation at the same place so DH has to to deliver my eggs 20 miles away!!

hi Rachelle,
I just went to an IVF workshop here in the US yesterday and they said that you only needed to wait for one full cycle after a failed IVF to start again...so sounds like the 6 month thing has more to do with the NHS's scheduling than with medical concerns.
