Question on coming off Clomid?

A question for you Clomid ladies out there. Especially those who have tried it and had a break or come off it for some reason.

I'm supposedly just about to embark on my 6th round of Clomid, but due to a number of difficulties we've encountered this month and the subsequent loss of my FS (long story, all in my journal, but basically our funding has been stopped, due to the old postcode lottery) we are considering having the next month or so off Clomid.

I'm 40 years old, have one child already, had two subsequent losses and have a husband with very low morphology. All three previous pregnancies were concieved naturally. However, since the medical system stuck me on Clomid, to improve my egg quality (I was already ovulating) and Metformin (FS thinks I have mild PCOS, but in all honesty, I don't) it just doesn't seem to be happening for us. My cycles were pretty much regular before, albeit a very late ovulation...circa CD19, and a LP of only 8 or 9 days. However...we did fall pregnant!

I'm also on baby aspirin (to reduce my mc risk), Vit B50 complex (seems to help my LP), and have high dose Folic Acid for if it 'does' happen. I am not considering stopping these.

So my question (if you got this far) is whilst it all seemed to be happening relatively normally before Clomid - do things change once you've taken it? Can I just stop and try going back to where I was? Or does anyone have any experience of post Clomid 'different' cycles.

Your experiences will be very much appreciated, as a decision on the next cycle is, I think....imminent!

Hi Lyns,
I am on clomid, prescribed by my GP and he makes me take a month off after 2 cycles on it, then start again, I do not think there is any worry in stopping, your body wont be affected in a negative way from what he told me.

I felt I needed that break too, i had a month out and it did me good, so I recommend it lol

I'm sorry, I can't help. I am in a similar boat as I just finished my last cycle on Clomid and now it is time to move to the next step, but I think that I am going to delay the next step and see what my body does off of Clomid now that I know more about how to read my body. I'm interested to hear others experiences as well.

I've had 5 cycles of clomid and since my last cycle in May I've been having a break, I've found my cycles have regularised better than they were before since being on clomid but I wasn't ovulating regularly before going on it.

Ladies, I want to thank you for your responses. With a lot of soul searching and your input I have decided to ditch Clomid. It has never sat that easy with me, as I feel I have been purely forcing my body to do something in an unnnatural way that it was already doing in a natural one. I can of course understand the use of Clomid if someone isn't ovulating at all, or regularly, but for me, it just doesn't feel right. I will trust that if its meant to happen, it will. I am going to continue with the aspirin, as strangely, this does feel right.

I'm lucky in that I have one child....i know, so I know that once, somehow it all worked, and I pray it can again and that time hasn't gone too far! Thank you again.....I'm a much happier bunny tonight, having taken this decision! xxx
