I'm Currently Feeling: | yeah i've had one holly. They basically make an incision in your belly button( sometimes small incisions across your bikini line) to investigate your tubes and ovaries. It is done under anesthetic and usually only takes about half an hour. you won't be in that much pain afterwards just a bit sore, but it's not as bad as it sounds chick.
Loads of luck to you babe xxx | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey polo princess, I havent had one done, but I do work in theatres and have carried out a few with the surgeon. Niknat describes it pretty accurately, there is usually 2 inscisions, one in the bellybutton and a smaller one slightly higher up. The bellybutton hole houses the camera and the smaller one is for the instruments to move you ovaries etc to get a better look. This is a good and less invasive procedure than years ago, and a good diagnostic tool to find out what is going on. They can take pictures while in there, fluid samples, tissue samples, pretty much anything, and it is only through a small inscision. This procedure is carried out many times a year, and is relatively safe, but like any surgery, there are very remote possibilities of complications, but i wouldnt worry. Depending on your pain threshold u shouldnt really be that sore afterward- I have looked after women whoi have had it done, and they generally are only slightly uncomfy. If you would like any more info, just PM me and I will be happy to help if I can. Good luck, Candice xx | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Polo, i just had this done in December. Its pretty much as nikanat describes, and yes they do put you to sleep.
Try not too worry to much, its really a simple procedure and they cant find out so much information from it.
I was off work for a week but because of things involved in my job i felt i needed that long to make sure i was healed, you may not need as long as that. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey Polo_princess,
I too had a laparoscopy done back in March of last year and as all the girls say, it's a very straight forward procedure and nothing to worry about plus your Gyni will be able to see if all is ok.
Good luck. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had a lap done 6yrs ago and am getting another one done in 2 days time.
I freaked out with my first one but everything was fine. I think any kind of surgery is scary but you will be fine hun. You won't feel a thing being under anaesthetic and if nothing else, its a good excuse to have a week off work!! | | | | Status: Offline
