Question

Anyone found low temps whilst charting?

Hi!
I have been TTC for 15 months. My G.P had thought my progesterone was a bit low after testing it twice so referred me to the fertility clinic. They checked my tubes etc and all was clear and thier only comment on my hormone levels was that 'I was ovulating'. They did no further test on my bloods and told me to go back in May for next steps. I started charting my cycles and I am getting a positive Ovulation Predictor Kit result, fertile mucus and a very slight and gradual (0.4 degree) rise in me basal temp. I agree with the hospital in that yes I am probably ovulating but my understanding is that my charting reflects low progesterone levels which my G.P suggested in the first place! I plan to go back to my GP and see if he can give me clomid. Does anyone know if a g.p can prescribe this or will he tell me to wait until I go back to the hospital in May? Also - anyone with a similar situation/experience and a success story perhaps with clomid or something else? Thanks

Hi, did not want to read and run, I have pcos and do not ovulate, my gp gave me clomid which I am now on (my 3rd month) so yes, a gp can prescribe it, but they do not monitor you generally.

I would def say go back to your gp and have a chat about this as an option

Good luck

Do you chart on FF? Have you got a link to your charts? 0.4 sounds reasonable to me. I just checked my chart and I think that is about on average what I get. Do you know what your actually progesterone level was? Do you know exactly how many dpo you were? I was checked at CD21 (they told me it had to be done them even though I knew I didn't ovulate until later), but as I had only ovulated at CD19, it was still low. I told them I needed another check 5 days later and it was fine.
The month I got my bfp, my temperatures were really low - I was worried about it because I assumed that meant low progesterone. But I think if your luteal phase is long enough (10 days +) you should be producing enough progersterone. I'm NO EXPERT!! But as far as I understand it, the role of progesterone mostly in the first part of pregnancy is to stop the lining of the womb breaking down too early so the egg can implant. Like I said, I'm no expert, I may be wrong. I'm sure if levels had been too low for you to conceive, the clinic should have picked up on that.
