Don't know when to start ICSI...

I was wondering if anyone has been through ICSI already who could help me with this...How much time did you take off work? Do you need to take a week or 2 off, or did u just take one day for EG and another for ET?

The reason I ask this is I am in uni solidly from January till March, then my final nursing placement from March-August. I only have 2 weeks off that entire time which is the 2nd 2 weeks of April. But My appointment isnt till March 1st and takes 8 weeks for referral. So I wont be able to have it then as its too soon. So...that basically means Ill have to wait till Im qualified in September!!

The only way round it is to squeeze it in somewhere in netween all that-but is that a good idea??

My only other hope is for a cancellation, but the chances of timing it exactly to those 2 weeks seem a bit unlikely to be honest. So Im still in turmoil at what to do.

Any input would be appreciated girls x

Hey hun

We are due to start our cycle at the beginning of the new year.

I am taking 1 week off work from date of EC - mainly so i can have EC then ET and put my feet up for a few days before going back to work on restricted duties.

You want to be as calm and relaxed as possible when going through the cycle especially with all the medication/possible side effects you will encounter. I'd look up the side effects of taking the drugs and see if you think it will affect your study - i know headaches and hot flushes as well as mood things are some of the things my friends have suffered from. As much as i want my ICSI now - i would want to feel relaxed so that i could give emby the best chance of implanting with minimal stress and also so i could fit in some accupuncture which they advice.

I'd go to your March appt and speak to them about it - they should be able to advise it and at least if it's going to be September, you will be feeling fit and healthy in mind & body

Aww hun, don't stress already

I couldn't afford too much time off, I was back at work 48 hours after my EC (to be honest I could have come back the day after, I felt fine just a little tiny bit crampy) - and the ET falls on a Sat (luckily) but the transfer itself is far less of a procedure. When I was in for my EC women were having the transfer and then leaving straight away to catch flights or drive home, no rest....

So It's honestly up to you...but the recovery time for the EC is likely to be a day or two
