We're in the same boat, everything seems fine with me but DH has low count and high percentage of abnormals (only 2% normal). We've been told there's almost no hope of concieving naturally but we're hoping to start ICSI in January and have been told the chances are very good.

Good luck!

Hey Bay

Sorry - i'm night duty so replied then passed out for 8 hours!

Well we had 1 milion sperm in August 2008 and DH was on some prescription meds. He came off them straight away and we had another SA in Jan which went up to 8 million, July showed 16 million and he can do another one whenever we want but we keep ha ha ha DH did the lifestyle changes, no hot baths, weightloss, cut down on alcohol etc. He also started taking 1000mg of vit c, Maca which week got off the internet at healthy direct and he also takes Wellman - since then he has above average morphology and motility so it's literally just the count that's letting us down.

Time wise...
Oct 08 referral by GP
Nov 08 appt with FS
Feb 09 follow up appt - put on IVF/ICSI waiting list 12 months long
Sep 09 told funding was through and i needed repeat bloods/HIV to get started
Dec 09 appt for planning and get our start dates.
Girl at my clinic had her appt this week and everyone is starting Feb 10 on the pill so completion of cycle should be around April time.
We get 1 free go so if it doesn't work it'll be paying from then on and short protocol probably!!

I'm a firm believer that ttc naturally could still happen!!

So how bad was your OHs count etc?xx

Hi

We had low count and poor morphology, nothign seemed to be wrong with me. Vits and lifestyle changes didn't make much of a difference with us, but I know others have had great success. Had first ICSI (IVF with sperm injected into egg) in Sept and so so so lucky to get bfp!!

Good luck!

Kath xx

Hi - My DH has low motility (only 10%) and numbers just over 20m, so there's not enough swimmers to get me pregnant at the moment. He's been on Fertilaid for about a month and going for weekly acupuncture too, so fingers crossed we'll get a BFP before IVF, but to be honest I'm realistic and am trying to mentally prepare for the IVF now...We have our first IVF planning appt on 7th dec.
Mrs G - So happy for you. I always feel so much more positive when hearing stories like yours.
PS - Think I'm ok, but not had tubes checked as doc doesn't think necessary. If next SA comes back better gonna bring this up as want to know.
Good luck to everyone! We really need some more male factor success stories.xx

Hiya,

We're MF too, and have been trying for 17 months now.

April 09 - first SA - too low to count
May 09 - second SA - < 1million/ml, referred to urologist.
Aug 09 - urologist appointment - chromosome test on bloods and scan on testes. Third SA - 1 million/ml
Nov 09 - follow up urologist appointment - referrel for IVF/ICSI once my CD21 and scan is done.

We've been told that with the numbers, getting pregnant is not IMPOSSIBLE, but out of 100 couples, 2 or 3 might fall pregnant in 2 or 3 years of trying. So with those figures, it's best to go for assisted conception. I'm too impatient, and the odds are really against us.

Good luck for all those with MF!

wow kath well done congrats to you both...im sure its well deserved. We need ppl like u to gv us hope. Thanks. My db results 15%nrmal 9%progresion, 58% immotile...but he had 17mil as over all count an that was with 4 or 5 days no sex...so prob alot less realistically, we tried 'saving' sperm by waiting and tryed being at 'it' all the time...neither has worked, he on vit e an zinc as doc recommeneded, gud luck to you who havivf planning or are starting soon...keep me informed so i can knw what to expect...will still keep ttc just would like a back up plan in place. We obv need help, my db has never concieved, at 37 we hopin to b parents b4 he hits 40...lots of luck girls...positive thinking and preying 4our bfp's asap...x x
