Hi,

Yes, ICSI is the same procedure as IVF but they inject the sperm into the egg rather than just mix them up and hope for the best! We weren't offered IUI or anything else - I think they just assumed it would be a waste of time as DH's normal count was so low.

We are in the same position too. Hubby has very low count, the consultant told us to go for the ICSI, dont hang around trying vitamins etc as not likely to work anyway. Dont know when we're gonna start ours tho.

Aphrodite i would definitely still try the vitamins depending on the reason for the low count - in the time we've been on the NHS waiting list DH's sperm count has doubled twice and is close to 'normal' levels now - plus his motility and morphology is above average. Good luck!

I think they like to see an average of 50% motility so i know its lower than average but its still possible huni.. My OH is the same think we had about 30% and then the other test we had about 39% and the consultant told us they like to see a total of progression of 50% but they say its not impossible to get pregnant with the results we had..Sometimes it can just vary from test to test, was it a first test? I would defo re test after taking some healthy tablets and then see what the results are there!

I got OH on wellman new conception tablets get them off the net, might be worth trying these huni, suppose to increase motility and maybe next time do the sperm test on 4 days and see if this makes a difference, i personally think 5 days is too long, we did the second one on 2days and i think this is why we got lower results as the first test was on 3 days and we had better results

SO keep trying huni xxxx

hi beauty, he has had two tests, the 2nd one we didnt wait as long an results were lower still! So i cant imagine the numbers wen we are at it everyday or everyother day...the dr sed they wanted a min of 25%progression, so the 50%must b an average num. Thank you several ppl recomendedd wellmans, an concieve plus, im off to boots at the weekend...hehe. Good luck x x

They want 50% in total its given on the report its like A (mean good progression i think) + B (progression i think) i think and they say they like to see A+B = 50% maybe after trying the wellman the mobility might increase worth a try huni..

Wellman do a tablet now called wellman conception, i looked in boots for this but couldnt get it as its really new, so if u go on the wellman site website and order direct from there your get it direct think it bit more expensive think it about £9 for month supply rather than £7 but its designed for sperm mobility and increase sperm numbers etc and it tells you about the product so its good for a read..

xx

I don't know if we constitute a success story considering we don't have a baby and will actually have to go ahead and have more ICSI but in as far as sperm counts go, we had zero on two counts and still got pregnant a few times! So it's not all about the SA, keep on trying!
