Anyone taking Utrogestan/Prometrium?

Hello all,
I was hoping someone would help me with this...my gynaecologist has just prescribed me Utrogestan (which is also called Prometrium) to help regulate my cycle. Problem: from what I have read, this is just a progesterone supplement and is normally taken after ovulation to help with implantation and boost progesterone levels.
I'm confused, as he has told me to start taking it on CD 14, although I never ovulate that early, so I'd be starting it before ovulation. I have read that taking progesterone before ovulation will stop you ovulating altogether.
I have had my post-ovulation bloods done and my progesterone levels were fine, as were all my CD3 tests...and my luteal phase is always 14 days so that's not the problem...
Has anyone taken this? I know the doctor probably knows best, but I can't help thinking I've been given the wrong prescription...
Would love to hear any thoughts on this!

If it is that confusing to you, then I would recommend you call and talk to your doctor about your concerns. I take prometrium (progesterone) and I take it 3 to 5 days after ovulation as prescribed by me doctor and FS. So I would definately ask why he wants you to take it like that. Good luck!

I take Prometrium usually starting on CD18 (or a few days after ovulation depending when it happens). I'm not sure why you are being told to start so early.
