I am on my 8th and final cycle, but I have been checked each month to make sure I'm not developing ovarian cysts. My doc said they'd do up to nine cycles, but that if it was going to work it should have worked by now. If we do not get BFP this cycle then he is referring me to a specialist out of the area.

The responsible advice would be to check with your doc before continuing on with it, but I personally would probably go ahead and take it while I was waiting anyways.

My prescription information says that it should not be taken for more than 6 cycles. Chellebelle it is good to hear that it did work on your seventh as I had pretty much given up on it. This is my last chance before it gets much more expensive, so really hoping this is the month. My doc did increase the dosage this month for our one last shot.

Good luck!
wow its stories like this that give me hope.
i will phone my FS in january and ask him about it as im sure one last round wont hurt (i hope)
ive heard that loads of people take it for years espeacialy in america but i do know that in the uk some FS only prescribe it for 6 cycles as more than 6th cycles increases the risk of ovarian cancer.

Studies have linked ovarian cancer to infertility (basically there's an increased risk of getting it if you have never been able to bear a child). Clomid happens to be pulled into it because that's what many people take when infertile, so the studies aren't all valid. I have done some research on this and also spoke with my FS and he confirmed that the increased risk of cancer is typically due to the fact that a person is infertile. Clomid is part of the mix because the sample of people studied are usually classified as infertile. Therefore, Clomid is not viewed as a direct cause at this time. I'm sure there are others who would tell you different, but I don't feel there's any harm in trying it a few extra months. I'm more worried about cancer due to infertility than problems with the Clomid. However, I have responded to it so far. I would be worried about continuing if it wasn't working at all.

Also, I have read about your IUI dilemma and I would def. choose IVF if you only had one choice. I would likely have IUI privately while on the IVF waiting list. Good luck! xx
