Hi Priya

I too have PCOS and although I don't know about Metformin as I am on Clomid only, I was prescribed with some progesterone tabs to make me come on my period last year that seemed to work... (I wish I could remember what the name of them was)... but your dr. should prescribe you with something similar next week. I had to take them for 5 days, and I came on my period 5 days after that... so it was pretty quick. Since then I have still had iregular periods... but not as bad as they usually are.

I am sorry I can't help more, good luck!!!

It will be called Provera. I'm still waiting on my AF too. It's 4 days late now and it's getting really frustrating. I'm thinking of calling my Gyno to ask about getting some provera to bring it on

So, I started Metformin on 2-1-08 and haven't gotten a period but that isn't really a surprise. Metformin itself wouldn't actually give you a period on it's own. If you are insulin resistant, then that can affect your hormones which can keep you from ovulating. The idea of Metformin is that is corrects your insulin levels which can "unlock" you ovaries and allow you to ovulate. (This is what my doctor told me.)

If Metformin doesn't help your cycles, you will probably need to go on Provera and/or Clomid which does cause you to ovulate. (That is it's actual job. LOL)

I have no idea if this helps or ever makes sense but good luck TTC!!!

After I was diagnosed they put me on provera to bring on a period, then I had an HSG and then they put me on clomid. They never gave me any metformin. I did the clomid for two cycles and got my bfp. I hope it starts working for you!
