2nd Appointment Update

Hi Girls

Had our second appointment at the fertility clinic on Monday and here's my update.

We got the results of DH's sperm test and it came back really good which I am so relieved about - I was soo nervous about the results as he has a few health problems already. He now keeps telling me he has super sperm!!! . I don't know what I would have felt like if the test had came back bad. But hey ho one less thing to worry about.

The doc also got all the results of my blood tests from my GP and as he discussed with us back in Dec, he is going to prescribe Clomid. I'm a little disappointed that he didn't start it there and then. I have to go back in about 3 weeks time and with the hospital over an hour away it is getting abit difficult making up excuses for work. So would be glad to know if anyone is attending the hospital and what they have said to their boss, I don't rally want to go down the route of telling anyone at the moment (apart for a really close friend who is experiencing the same kind of problems TTC#2).

Finally he said he would try the clomid for 6 months then put us down on the list for IVF as the waiting list is about 12-18 months long. I must admit that scaried me slightly (apologies to those of you going through IVF at the moment) but I just can't get my head around that yet - but fingers crossed it won't come to that and the Clomid will produce a good egg!! It's only one I'm asking for!

Sorry for going on a bit.

Good luck with the Clomid.

I have a huge mouth and work with a bunch of pregnant women and women with infants so they all know I am TTC. (Including my boss.) In retrospect, I should have kept my mouth shut but I simply can't. I am such a loudmouth.

I was lucky and had a male boss. I used to mutter "women's problems" to him and that was enough to make him and kill the conversation!

Good luck on the Clomid.

heya funny bunny, apologies in advance for the longish reply!!!!

i work in a school and getting blood tests with my doctor means always morning appointments and having to leave my classes - my senior manager is a bloke, so i bit the bullet and went to one of the female heads and asked specifically that we 'speak in confidence' ( i only started as a fully qualified teacher in sept). before i told her my story, i said that i loved my job and i would never do anything to jeopordise it, but i also have very strong family values. i explained i'd been TTC for 2 years (prior to current job) and it wasn't going too well. She was so very supportive and actually said that she didn't blame me for not going to my senior (male) boss. She said i could go to any appointment i needed to, no questions asked - upon which i stated i would always cover the work before / after. She also said that she would 'fight my corner' should anyone ask any questions.

Since that meeting i have been off for 3 hours in doctors appointments and been in hospital for 3 days. Granted, i have been lucky to have such a supportive management structure, but i guess i'd have never have known if i'd have never have said anything in the first place.

I'm not saying you should defo tell the whole story, but in my case, it's working out well. So much so she stopped me in the corridor the other day, and took me back to her office. We spoke about my situation and she then disclosed that she'd miscarried several times and completely felt for my situation.

i know i 'fell lucky' in talking to her ( i wish i could name her!!), but personally, i don't see why we should be persecuted, or even be worried about trying to do what comes naturally, with a little assistance... ( i hope that doesn't read harsh, that's not my intention hun)

at the end of the day, no employer can penalise you for starting a family. i really hope the clomid give you the 'one', please let me know your thoughts / experiences as it looks like thats the next step for us (although DH needs assistance too)

Thinking of you babe x x x x x x x x x x x x xx x x

Thats great news about DH's spermies!

All the best with the clomid hun, I hope it makes your baby dreams come true

If your boss is understanding then I would pull him/her aside and let them know the short story of what is going on. I told my boss the other day as i'm going to need a week off next month and she was fantastic but I knew she would be.

Thanks for all the lovely replies girlies. I'm still in two minds wether to say anything or just keep going until I have to (if it comes to that). I just don't feel strong enough to admit to anyone else yet there is a problem, if you kow what I mean.

Mrs F I'm glad you have such a understanding manager she sounds like a real gem, I'll keep you updated on how it goes with Clomid. x
