Ok, after a long day we're home!
I don't know what to think, its going to be longer than we though, many more tests to be done on my side.
He was really good though. He said our age it can take 6-9 months but by 12 months 90% of couples would've achieved a pregnancy. He said that even with sperm probs, many couples can still conceive. I'm getting a full hormonal blood test (did that today) Just before my period ends I had to get a pelvic ultra sound and then on the 7th March i'm going in for day surgery for a laparascopy, hysteroscopy, biobsy taken on my uterus and to investigate the extent of my heart shaped uterus to see if that is preventing me from getting pregnant or if it will affect me carrying a baby. Also doing a dye test to see if my tubes are blocked.
THEN we go back and work out what will be.
So another few months of waiting after the surgery, biopsy results etc.
I'm a little bummed out that I have to get all of this done BUT I guess we will know everything then rather than start treatment, have it not work then backtrack with tests.
This man is VERY good at what he does and at the end he said 'don't worry, we'll get you pregnant' well that is a hell of a promise/statement so I hope so!
We're going private with the surgery as public is a 3+month waiting list and it is performed by a bunch of student doctors and nurses, where as the public way we can get in straight away and he (the specialist) does it with much better equipment etc, we can't get back there till early March though. Its $1000 through private system but worth it I think.
I mean I knew he wasn't going to click his fingers and say 'lets start IVF next month' and while i'm so glad that he is very thorough I thought it would happen quicker. I dare say treatment won't start until at least June.
Thanks for all your support girls, it means the world to me
Better go update my ticker for yet another event *sigh*
