How did you find going through IVF? Did it take you awhile to get your head around it? Did you have a lap prior to IVF? How long for your body to heal? Any advice on what to expect or anything other info that may assist me?! As you can see, I am still learning and trying to understanding all this. Wishing you all the best and hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months xo

You're welcome and feel free to ask me anything

Personally I found the IVF quite a difficult experience but that's mostly in hindsight because it didn't work. You get remarkably used to (and good at) sticking needles in your belly and the procedures are painless. Especially the egg collection for me as they knocked me out!!!

I had my lap in November 2008, five months before my IVF and I would say I'm pretty healed now! It is a bit of an enigma, the technology is amazing. I did like learning about my body and hearing how the embies were doing (we still have 4 on ice!) and I have known many people who have had successes with IVF.

Not sure how long you'll need to wait for IVF where you are but I would definitely keep trying in the meantime if I were you. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks Rach. I will be giving the clinic a call tomorrow and hopefully they can get me in straight away. If so, I will be on the pill for a month then start all the drugs. So it will be 6 weeks until Egg Retrieval which they also knock you out to do. I like being knocked out....sometimes I wish I could be knocked out for longer.....it takes me away from the pain of it all for awhile. The FS said he wants to only embed one emby for the first cycle and then discuss options if we need to move onto another. Did you have many side effects with the Fertility drugs? How did you deal with the first cycle not working (sorry to remind you), and did you have to wait a month between cycles?

THANKS for the links Rach, I'm calling around today.
I would LOVE to come to New Zealand. It's a place I dream to go.

Hey, also further to the other endometriosis sites. I've been following this diet in hopes that if I do infact have this, the diet can help me until I get some answers from the RE Reproduction Endocrinologist. Since I had a chronic case of candida years ago that lasted years before I was able to gain rebalance, I have followed a similar diet in the past.

http://www.endo-resolved.com/diet.html

Interestingly enough, the chronic candida issue was never resolved by my western med docs who always gave me a pill to take and didn't have any answers about why this was happening. I finally found help through a homeopathic doctor who put me on a diet for three months very close to the one listed in this link.

I'm beginning to think I should have demanded a lap back after I had the HSG done. Oh, if only I could move back in time.....

xxx

Thanks for all of these resources Rach and Reallyready. I know what you mean RR about demanding the Lap back when I had the HSG. Especially for me since they couldn't get the dye into my right tube. I'm left wondering if I have a blocked tube or maybe endo. Arghhh. For now I've got to go through this cycle with the clomid and then see whether I should pursue a Lap and dye before taking the third round of clomid or maybe wait until after the third round....

Hey Bklyn and Rach, I went ahead and made an appt with a endo specialist in NY as a second opinion from my primary Obgyn. Bklyn, PM me if you want her info. I'll def. keep you posted. My husband and I are feeling like maybe we are taking our care into our own hands instead of just following blind advice that is counter to what we experience (like with the progesterone of last week).
It's the last question unanswered, so I'm happy to be pursuing it aggressively! Rach, I don't know if I would have done it if you hadn't written. So, thanks again!

Reallyready, that is great. When will you go see the specialist? Rach, you're starting an endo testing movement! I might jump on the bandwagon soon myself. RR, if you could PM that info to me that would be great. I may wait until after this cycle is over, but it is definitely something I will look into.

I had no side effects from the drugs whatsoever and , even though I forgot to take an injection of Gonal-F once (oops!), everything still went to plan.

I only did one cycle before getting pregnant naturally but here I think they like you to wait 3 cycles in between. I still have 4 embies on ice!

There is ANOTHER treatment here which is called Lipiodol Flushing. Lipiodol is basically Poppy Seed oil and they used to use it in the HSG procedure and accidentally discovered that lots of women were getting pregnant after having the procedure!! They use something else as standard now but the lipiodol treatment is available here for about $1000 (NZ).

Good luck ladies - keep me posted

Hi Rach, I just read all about laporoscopy and it sounds horrid. Care to share the story of yours? How many months after did you fall pregnant? Or rather, how long do you have to wait after to start BD again? Thanks! RR
