Unhappy

Hello

Hi
me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 2 years, and started tests a few months ago. He has come back 2% (am sure that's quality and motility), and i received ny 2nd day-21 blood test results - no ovulation still. We've both got one month left of testing then the doc's going to refer us to the hospital.

Would anyone be able to let me know what happens next test-wise - i've read so much stuff and it's really overwhelming to take in all the doctortalk when you keep getting negative results,
thankyou

Mrs F

I'm Currently Feeling:

Hello Mrs F. (Sorry for the long message in advance) Do you have regular cycles? I have been TTC for 2 years also, and last year when I changed docs, I went for my initial "servicing" and tld him that I was TTC but having irregular periods. He was great, he referred me for Blood Tests which showed that I had PCOS, then he tested my OH, which confirmed that he has a low sperm count. After that, he sent me for a HSG and they found that I have a blocked tube.

After all that, they referred me for a laparoscopy, however, they didn't proceed with that as they said, with me having a fully working tube, I should have no problem conceiving with a little help. They then prescribed me with 100mg Clomid, which is supposed to increase your ovulation by about 3 times... and my day 21 blood tests were coming back great, however, I am on round 3, and there is still no so on Thursday I have been requested to go back to the hosp where they will see how I am progressing, and if things aren't looking too good, I will probably go onto IVF or IUI (which I don't know too much about yet).

It is a tough ride, but I am sure that at the end of it, it will all be worth it... and you are now getting help so you should start to feel like things are progressing for you soon.

I have even got a friend who was not ovulating and was prescribed with Clomid, and she got pregnant on her 2nd round of it... with twins! I have heard so many similar stories... so keep thinking positive and good luck!!

I'm sorry to hear of these results hun

We're dealing with male factor infertility too. We have our first Fertility Specialist appointment coming up in 14 days. I will let you know what happens. Generally, the specialist will want to do another sperm test and decide treatment. In your case, they will want to find the reason why you aren't ovulating and you may have to undergo some internal x-rays or day surgeries, then possibly some hormone drugs to get your ovulating.

You generally have to get 3 sperm tests to see if there is a pattern or the first one was bodgy. If they read similar then with those rates I am guessing you guys will have to do IVF or ICSI.

Thinking of you hun

Hello to you both - and thankyou so much for your replies, and kind words - it's really difficult to talk to friends and family at mo, my sister-in-law and couple of best friends are pregnant which makes it even harder!

I have a clockwork cycle oddly enough, and haven't really had any noticable signs of PCOS. We both eat so healthily and exercise (we'll, walk the dog, clean the house, baby-dancing, jobs etc - that isn't in order of preference by the way!!!!) Admittedly, we've had a stressful-ish year last year - we both re-trained in our careers, got married, SIL miscarried, but for us both to have fertility issues is a bit of s**t really!

Chellebelle - i 'll be thinking of you on Thursday for your appointment, i hope it goes ok (not sure if 'ok's the right word, but i'm hoping you know what i mean)

FJL - thinking of you guys too, i know less about male infertility than female (although i'm fast becoming a specialist in both!)

Thankyou again so much for taking the time to reply, it makes a difference to know there are people out there knowing what you're feeling and going through
