femara instead of or after clomid

Was curious if anyone has been on femara instead of or after clomid. I did a 12 mo cycle and clomid and it didnt work for me. I took a few months off and got pg with ectopic in April. Now my Dr wants me to try femara she said that it has worked for people that clomid didnt work for. I guess I am ovulating just not very strong. Any insight would be great.

I've seen femara given out in the states after clomid hasnt worked... its taken in the same way, and has similar effects. It was originally used in breast cancer treatment if I remember right. I've seen it work for people, but it's not that common to get given here. Do you know whether you have pcos?

I do have mild PCOS and that is why my dr are thinking about using it because the clomid didnt work. Seems to work the same as clomid. So I guess it cant hurt to try.

have you tried metformin/glucophage, either alone or with clomid? Sometimes the pcos needs tackling from the insulin related side as well...

I did and am. I started on clomid alone then added glucophage and am now only taking the glucophage but dr want to add femara to the glucophage. I might try a few months with just the gluco first and see if that works. Then try the femara I am just hesitant to wait because I only have 1 tube and would really like to ovulate on both sides for a better chance each mo but I also dont want to end up with quints. She said after femara then we might use ovidrel shots and then try IUI. But she is confident the femara will help.
