Periods stopped

Hi everyone, I haven't been on for a while as I decided not to think to much about TTC but haven't been successful

I'm 26 and I came off the pill in January 2007 and my periods were long and irregular. Between 6 and 7 weeks a time but since September 24th I haven't had a period which is now 3 months.

I went to the doctors at the start of December but she told me to come back in the new year after my bf's sperm has been tested, which I was quite annoyed at when i got home and thought about it, as there is something not right with me, so I should be able to be tested with out him being tested first.

I am starting to get a bit worried about whats going on with my body now and wondered if anyone else has had this happen to them or and if anyone has any suggestions as to what it could be and what I should to try and get my periods started again.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

I can't understand why the GP would turn you away either? Have you thought about switching doctors? That just doesn't sound right to me. Perhaps she was just trying to get everything in front of her first?

I know it sounds silly - but have you done some HPT's? I was never on the pill, so I'm not sure how it affects the body. Although as a teenager I did have very irregular periods. Sometimes I was lucky to get two a year!

Have you got an appointment to have BF's sperm tested? I guess all I can suggest is get everything the Doc needs, and then go back. When you do, tell her your not leaving until she starts the ball rolling with some tests for you!

Best of luck

^ I agree.

Also, what about going to a naturopath or something? I've heard heaps o success stories about womens periods becoming regular with natural methods like this.

Good luck hun

In the UK doctors sont usually start testing for ttc probs untill you have been trying for over a year.
Would have been nice to tell you that rather than fob you off...

yeah I had the same but mine is cause of a neuro condition that I have coz of an accident, and the meds that i was taking weren't helping.

maybe you should go again and tell them how you feel, that you want to see a gynae for tests, irrespective of fertility tests?

I came off the pill and my periods have been very irregular since. Had a period mid June and didn't have another once until last week. There can be lots of things that can help. I think for me loosing a bit of weight has kick started my last period and hopefully will have made things a bit more regular.
Your body takes a while to get back to normal after coming off the pill, so maybe in a little while things will improve.
