Good news and bad news....

Just wondering if you would view this as good or bad news ladies.

I went for my clomid scan this morning (I'm on 150 mg), on CD15. I left it a few days longer than usual as I don't usually ov til CD17 or 18.

My lining was nice and thick but there were no big follicles, but lots of little ones. The consultant said I probably won't ovulate at all this month.

She also said there was no point in continuing with clomid as it's clearly not working. After 5 cycles I've only ovulated twice, and not even in subsequent months. She said I could try another month at 200mg but it probably wouldn't make any difference. I said I couldn't bear the side effects anyway!

She then told me I needed a review with my own consultant, and he would probably send me for a HSG and start me on injections for ovulation I asked if that meant a couple of months without medication while I waited on a review appointment to which she said yes

I went out to the reception to make my review appointment and the receptionist told me there was a 12 week waiting list!! I almost punched her lol

Then she said they have a cancellation with my consultant and would I like it...... NEXT TUESDAY!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!

Can't believe my luck!! Somebody must be watching over me today.

I'm not sure how I feel about all this, clomid hasn't worked and needing HSG and injections.

But on the other hand, things are moving again and we're trying something new. Plus since I haven't ovulated, it means I won't get AF whilst on holidays lol Every cloud has a silver lining I guess

for cancellation next week ... I hope you snapped it up. Just out of curiousity ... how come you were put on clomid before your tubes were checked out? The first procedure that was done for me was an HSG - Dundonald wouldn't do anything else until I had that done. Strange how different hospitals within a few miles of each other do things in different ways... did you see Gillian today?

i'm sorry that the clomid hasn't worked for you, although it is normally the first thing that docs try it doesn't work for everyone and like you say the side effects can be awful.

woohoo on getting an appointment next week, that's fab news and i hope you get the ball rolling straight away.

injectable meds aren't too bad, i have a needle phobia and when i did a donation cycle i lay on the sofa with my fingers in my ears and my eyes squished shut while dh did the sticky in the belly bit. i only felt a couple of them go in

I would say it was good news honey. Whilst it's not great that the Clomid didn't work at least you're on track fro a different kind of treatment and you've got an appointment way earlier than you normally would.
Much better like that than being stuck on Clomid when it isn't working for you.

HSG is fine too, nothing to worry about at all!

Good luck!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yeah I definately snapped that app. up, nearly threw myself over the reception to kiss the receptionist lol She said I was very lucky as it had just come up.

It was Gillian this morning, she's very nice. Explained everything in English. I dunno why I haven't had a HSG. Prof McClure told me I would do 3 months of clomid first and then a HSG. I've now done 5 cycles of clomid.

When I went in for my scan the nurse was asking me to confirm my details and she asked if this was my first cycle on clomid. I said 'no, number 5' and she said 'oh u poor thing'!! Made me feel even worse

Gillian is really lovely. She does some work in Origin, and we met her at our pre-treatment consultation first time round. She is brilliant at explaining everything in plain English so that it's really easy to understand.

So is your HSG on Tuesday?

Ignore that - just re-read your initial post ... I'm really forgetful at the moment. Can't remember things from one minute to the next.

No I have my 'review after treatment' on Tuesday, and at that my own consultant will tell me if he wants me to have the HSG (more than likely). Then I have to book it with the gynie dept. Gillian said it'll probably be next month.
I have my holibops to look forward to before then so it'll keep my mind off it

I did all 9 clomid cycles before having my hsg.In the month I had the HSG, I then had no meds. On day 83 I o'd and got pg (unfortunately m/c). They werent bothered that they'd not done my hsg before.

I found there was a relief moving on from clomid to injectibles. At the end of the day, moving on takes you closer to your baby
