IUI on NHS and waiting list?

I have an HSG booked for 23rd March (providing my period is on time so that it can be finished by this date). If my tubes are ok I am going to be referred straight away for IUI. I didn't get time to ask any questions about it during my last appointment, the clinic is like a cattle market an you are in and out in a flash, no messing about!!

So, I have questions. I live in Buckinghamshire and am wondering whether IUI is availiable on the NHS. If it is does anyone know about how long I might have to wait? What have other people experienced in their areas?

And, finally, if its not availiable on the NHS does anyone know how much it would cost? I hopefully won't need any fertility drugs as all blood tests indicate that I am ovulating fine. DH has a dodgy sperm count, so he would need it refined or washed or whatever it is they do to them, lol.

So many questions I know, and I also know they're quesstions that I should have asked, but there was just not enough time!!

Thanks

I was offered 3 goes at IUI, it took 2 to work. The wait wasnt long at all but they considered the time it took for the referral to the ACU and for tests ect, which took two years.

Whats the ACU? The hospital?
Wow, 3 goes on the NHS, thats better than I'd imagined. I wonder if my local NHS does the same.

Assisted conception unit.

IUI is alot cheaper than IVF so id imagine most places would do it.

I am now on my third attempt at IUI on the NHS. My FMU offered me 3 goes. After my IUI referral meeting I had a HSG, then started IUI about 2 months later. I think it is about £700 to go private.

We have no NHS entitlement to IUI at all in our area. (And no IVF until 36!). Just depends on your PCT. Our consultant told us that anyone who tells you there is no postcode lottery on the NHS is lying!
