So an Occupational Therapist came to eval Noah to see how well he is developing. Corrected age verses Actual Age. They said he was doing great with most things except with tracking things with his eyes. This had made me nervous, My mom had noticed this also but I thought it was just her being a wory wart. So they will be coming now twice a month to work with him, For other preemie parents, was or is this an issue your preemie is working on?

my OH and his twin brother were premature and they are both highly short-sighted. I heard, it often happens with premature babies as eye sight isn't even fully developed when they are born on time!

but with today techniques of eye correction I wouldn't worry to much!

OH and his twin have both glasses and are absolutely fine

my little one did inititally had eye problems, they thought he had (or he did have) retinopathy of prematurity but by term it corrected itself.

I'm guessing he didnt have this as they would have noticed a long time before now.

It just may take noah a little time to 'catch-up', I hate that term 'catch-up'; you'll find yourself playing catch-up all the time on all sorts of things.

My little boy also spent some time with speech therapists as well but let me tell you hes a chatterbox now

Our little miracle was a 24 weeker premmie , she had ROP of the eyes like many, and came home 1 week before her due date end October 2007. She then still had fortnightly visits to the Hospital until mid December because the ROP was not getting better so were very worried. She was finally given the all clear the 3rd week in December but it was still another couple of months before her eyes started tracking, perhaps feb 2008.

My point is , it is still early days yet, premmies generally will be late meeting milestones but we all have to remain positive and realise your O/T is only going by guidelines and every baby is different.

Thanks everyone. He see's the eye doctor on Monday to see how his eyes are doing. When he was there last month though, he said they looked good, still incomplete. So I dont think he has ROP but we will see. I notice improvements with him everyday. He loves bright lights. and is starting to "lock" his sight on things/
