I introduced finger foods quite early. She used to miss her mouth a lot, but I would feed her off a spoon whilst she also fed herself. I started off with stuff that dissolves like rusks and organix carrot sticks as I was terrified she would choke, then I went on to all sorts of things like toast and fruit/veggies.
