Been diagnosed with SPD

Ok so I was having a lot of pelvic pain which I was sure was either back pain reffered to my pelvis or possibly baby engaging but thought I would mention it to the midwife at my 32 week check and she referred me to the physiotherapist as I was having problems getting around......

....went for my appointment on friday just past an I have PGP; Pelvic Girdle Pain, formally known as SPD; Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. Apparently I'm not to worry myself too much as it is quite common in pregnant women around 1 in 5 experience it. I have exercises to strengthen my trans abs to help support my pelvis and manage the pain better, I am also to avoid lifting my ever increasing in weight toddler and the good thing is that these exercises will also help with the labour too!

my OH gets really annoyed with how i usually play things down - so I think he's really proud of how I complained about this pain. It's easier to manage the earlier you are diagnosed with it and like yourself turning in bed can be agonising so definitely keep on at your midwife about it

Took them far too long to believe me at 36 weeks I went to the hospital (labour ward) for some big support belt well OMG It was more uncomfy than the SPD she said to me "you know theres only one way now for this to get better" ...."birth"! 4 days later I walked past her

It is uncomfortable I feel for you Thankfully I have not had it so bad this time.

thanks wobbles, it's certainly not as bad as the worst case scenario but uncomfy and painful none the less.

I found one thing that helped at night was throwing my leg over/humping the OHs leg he got a lil tired of that idea and bought me a long MAT pillow I would curl myself round that one leg over it ...helped a little at night to feel more comfy for sure

x
