sciatica anyone? feeling so down

does anyone have this?

Ive had a really sore hip since mid pregnancy n since abt 3-4 weeks ago its agony! N now i can hardly walk cos i cant get any weight on my right side. Ive been saying to my midwife since maybe 24 weeks preg - n now at 34 weeks finally she refers me to the doc. Who says its sciatica ... ive read that some girls on here have suffered from this too.

Anyways im being told theres nothing they can do about it - i just have to wait it out ... i thought that phsio was available to ease it slightly. But the midwife said it wont help me at all so no point in refering me. Is this true?

i am in so much pain getting around, n with two young kids to run round after its getting increasingly difficult - im feeling on such a low today, i sat down n cried so much this mornin (not done that since begginning of preg) but im still feeling crap. i just feel like the midwife isnt taking me seriously - n i hate not being able to do things for myself. N i also hate how im feeling cos i know theres so many people out there probably suffering from a lot more than i am .... sorry for going on, just feeling very sorry for myself.

Thanks for reading.

Is there another GP at your practice you can see for a second opinion/referral to the physio?

yes, but he isnt that good with pregnancy related matters, he just refers you back to the midwife. But still ill make an appointment to see him, but i dont think hes gonna be very helpful.

I was in absolute agony with sciatica for most of my pregnancy and the only things that helped was the mommy belt and the pillow between your legs. God, I would never want to feel that pain ever again. I hope you get better.

I've had it on and off since 12 weeks. At my worst point I was even on crutches. My GP referred me to physio, but in all honesty, they are telling you the truth - there really is nothing you can do about it til after the baby's born. The relaxin hormone makes all your muscles relax so if your sciatic nerve gets pinched in the process, that's pretty much it til your hormones go back to normal after birth. My GP also told me that unfortunately it can take up to 12 weeks to go away completely after birth. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I know exactly how you feel.
