baby is transverse?

well - i went to the midwife yesterday, and she said that right now the babies back is on the left side of my uterus, and his arms and legs are kicking on the right.

well - i was just on the baby centre site reading up about c-sections just because i have fear of getting one... and it says if the baby is transverse(sideways) you would need a c-section.

is this true? and has anyone experienced this, or know someone who has?!?

EDIT : I think I jumped the gun.. when they say sideways, do they literally mean, head one the left, toes on the right??

They mean rather than head down baby is layed horizontal so not head or bum down if you not what I mean? He is laying across you. But remember they turn up to 34 / 35 weeks so try not to worry yet hun xx

yes, they mean lying across you like a hammock. And anyway, there would be plenty of time to move, the peanut was transverse until 31 weeks. it must be realy uncommon to go to term like that.

ok! just a minor freakout! I guess Grady isn't transverse then. She didn't tell me where his head was.. she could just feel that his back was against the left side.

Oh well.. I'm breathing again now!!!

Hannah was laying transverse when I went into labor and they didn't realize it until 1 hour into pushing. The OB managed to turn her and I did have to have a vacuum assisted delivery but avoided a C-section

I'm so terrified of a c-section and not being able to go about doing things normally as soon! Scary!!!
