well Im back after a horrible evening with a horrible midwife

The title says it all really. Went to chat with a midwife and actually met the worlds rudest and least caring health proffessional, I seriously wonder why she was doing the job tbh.

blood pressure was high which is pretty much normal for me in pregnancy. Wee showed blood but thankfully no protein.Monitor showed the pains although as I had thought they were not regular ranging from 4 to 10 minutes apart. The midwife told me at one point "the baby is starting to engage so aches and pains are normal". I had had about enough of her by then and felt like shouting "this is my third baby I know its normal to be achey its NOT normal to feel pain and contractions for a whole day even if they are not regular!"

anyway finally saw doctor who was alot nicer and at least made me feel I had done the right thing going in.

She had a look up there and told me that apparently my cervix is "thinning" which could be as a result of the contractions but I am not dilating any more yet (was 2cms). She was worrried about the blood pressure because it has been getting higher steadily the last few times I have been, I have a consultant appt on tuesday so will see about it more then. Babys head is starting to engage although with this being my third she said it could engage and unengage for a while. She also said that based on the fact i was "thinning" that the discharge I have been having was probably plug although she said not to worry about it lol.

Anyway basically I am still having the achiness of cramps and also i am a bit sore today down below, she told me that because of my history and the fact my blood pressure is going up (again) they wouldnt at this point stop labour if it happened and basically that I am not in labour now but that if the pains get more regular more painful etc get myself back there again .

Oh and I have no idea what thinning cervix means but I googled it and Im thinking it means effacing which isnt too bad as it seems that it can happen weeks before labour anyway. When I got home I had a quick feel and the only difference I can tell is that it feels less mushy and soft and feels alot smoother.

So I am sore today, my poor little girly bits feel like they are going to fall off when I stand and my tummy hurts when I move .

I kind of wish I had just stayed in bed yesterday

i hate it when mw's and docs are patronising like that its staff like that would stop someone going in again and then it turn out an extreme emergency in the end,
i'm an ex student nurse and i saw it all the time. and if i'm honest it puts me off going in when i go into labour in case they make me feel like i'm overreacting.

i'm getting the pains you descibe too. i lost my plug properly on saturday and been having crampy pains since, i havent checked myself but now you have i might lol.

me and my oh did rudey's the other day and he said it felt a bit mushy and swollen up there lol, i said thats it now he'd killed the passion lol.

hope you feel better soon and the pains die down.

btw whats your little boy wearing on your avator?

xx

Awww hunn, hope you feel a bit better soon, it amazes me how uncaring some of these bloody midwives can be some are more like vets than nurses.

well I feel a little better now after posting I was quite upset last night.
the doctor was very nice it was just that one midwife - I really hope shes not there when I have the baby, if she is I might ask if there are any others around

Both of my children are in nursery (my son is only on his second day) this morning so i am taking the opportunity to relax. I think with the other two ebing 4 and 2 its easy to overdo it sometimes running aorund and especially picking them up etc so i think i need to slow down a bit.

I have been reading on a few sites about these pains etc and now im quite excited last night I was really worried because I thought baby may actually come early (the doctor scared me when she said they wouldnt stop labour) but now having read a bit more I feel a bit better that its just things getting ready - and you never know baby may come at 37 38 weeks rather than 40 odd lol.

I have drunk a load today and now the cramps are easing a bit the only really painful thing now is standing because as soon as I stand I get shooting pains between my legs! but I keep telling myself that the baby is just getting comfy ready for a few weeks time

Oh amd my son is wearing a halloween mask int he picture - he is trying to eat a banana through the mouth hole (it didnt work lol)
