Dreading Monday

I've got my GTT and Anti D on Monday morning and I've read from loads of people how much the Anti D hurts, I am going on my own and I am so so scared. I hate injections at the best of times but when I know it's going to be really painful it makes it so much worse

We tried to find out OH blood type to see if he's Rhesus - as his mum is but no Dr's has it on record anywhere

xx

I went on my own too.. and I hate needles... but LISTEN HONESTLY it really didnt hurt, I read all the horror stories on here before I went and scared myself shitless but then I had it and was like.. what? That wasnt bad!

The trick (for me anyway) is to have it in your arm, but RELAX your arm completely.. just let your shoulder drop and focus on keeping your arm that relaxed! If its tensed in any way its gonna hurt...

Welshgirl I agree with ERconnell, relax your arm, focus on your breathing. I had to have arterial blood taken once and was told it'd be really painful. I said to myself 'no it won't!!' and did just that, relaxed my arm, focussed on my breathing and just blocked out that arm. Didn't feel it! Just felt like someone holding my wrist.

Good luck hun, you'll be fine xxx

Well I had 2 last pregnancy and one this morning. The first one was horrible, she stabbed the needle in (and i wont lie its a big frickin needle) my thigh and pushed it in reeeeeally slowly cus she said it hurts less that way... second one was in hospital after i fell over at 35 weeks and that was less painful, in my thigh and she pushed it all in real fast and it was better (my normal mw tended to be wrong lol) and today it was in my bum and she did it really fast and it was over in a few seconds and not nearly as bad! I say, relax your muscles, dont look, count to 5 and honestly as soon as the needle is out, it stops hurting! not like the flu jab which is pretty painless, little needle but aches for a few days after! If you can, ask for it in your bum! It's fattier than your arm and hurts far less.

thats my honest account. hth xxx

I didn't realise until reading this that it was supposed to hurt. I had mine the day before I went to the USA for holiday for two weeks and didn't think twice about it. No pain at all. Not even while they gave it to me. I had mine in the back of my arm (not sure if that makes a difference) and the MW had me relax my arm (so maybe this helped as others have said)
