Hi Charlotte I work at a hospital with midwives in a department that deals with all the cot deaths in the local area and they are few and far between I have worked there for three years and all the cot deaths ( prob about 4 a year) have been parents co sleeping with their child when they have taken drink or drugs, not sleeping in the appropriate place ( for example one child was on a mattress next to a radiator ) or falling asleep on the couch with the baby I can't think of a case that we have had other then those listed above I know that it can happen but just wanted to rest your mind that if the guidelines are followed ie temp of the room right etc etc it is quite rare

Thank you so much for that Lozzie, it is very reassuring to know that the guidelines are so spot on. Maybe you could make a separate post about it? I'm sure lots of other mum/mums-to-be would appreciate it too xx

Definitely not long now Charlotte, I had my son at 39+4 with no prior warning other than lots of BH's during a long walk the day before. Any day now... Good luck!! Xx

Lol, we call BH's Toni Braxton's in our house!! Yup, that was with my first son. I was really lucky and had a quickish (6.5hrs) & easy waterbirth. I honestly think a big part of the reason is because I stayed active - swam daily for 30 mins up until about 39 weeks, walked lots, which I also think kick started my labour as we did 4 miles the day before he was born. But I had him at 39+4 so didn't have the agony of going over due - I'm still ticking off the days to fullterm!! Try to think of the not knowing as exciting, you never know when its going to start - could be any minute! That was my main reason for not wanting to be induced! When it started always makes a good story afterwards!! Xxx

I will defo try and dig out my stuff and see what I can come up with! Our local area (lancashire) have a scheme called give me room to breath and this is all about safe sleeping etc think it is just run in Lancashire though so I'm assuming different areas have different schemes. Will try and get something together this afternoon
