What a few days.....

What a few days I have had, where do I start, had mf appointment on Tues, Oh blood pressure was quite high and had glucose & protenin in her wee, so mf said she wanted oh to go to hospital to get checked over and monitored.
mf measured oh and said he had gone up a cm and now measured 31cm (should be 32cm).

Got to hospital monitored her and and baby and bp was down they spoke to a doc and said come back tomorrow for another check.

Went back weds and cut a long story short monitored etc was fine, mf a hospital measured and measuered at 27-28cm, she decided to get a doc to check her over, the doc and another mf measured her and came to the same size, and they was concerned as she had cramp in her calf which was painful.

They decided she had to stay in and they would organise scan to check baby and calf on thurs.

Had scan's on thurs, had scan on calf and confirmed there was no blood clot, done scan on baby and found that head was ok, but body was measuring 29cm but said we would probably have to come back for regular scans, they also checked the blood flow through the cord and the amount of water oh had, baby had a full bladder so she wanted us to come back in 30 mins to check baby was emptying ok which we did and baby did.

We went back to the ward thinking everything was fine and then the doc came round and hit us with the bombshell.....

He has to stay in as they are concerned that baby has stopped growing as s/he is not big enough for this stage anbd they are concerned that she is not carrying enough water either, at the moment baby is strong but if s/he get distressed or anything like that then they will have to deliver, and at the moment bay is breach so it will have to be a c-section.

That was a major shock to both of us, and I fainted for a split second to come to with lot's of mf's round me !

oh is still in and is being monitored twice daily at the mo and they are doing a series of tests (apparently it is 5 tests ?) twice a week which they then score and it tells them what's going on.

She's been given injections as well that will develop baby's lungs in case it is early.

I am so worried though, 32 weeks is quite early for a baby, I know they can do great things these days, but 34 weeks is the safety net, I hope little 'un waits a few weeks at least.

Ive had exactly same thing happen to me this week. I am 32 weeks, my l/o is measuring approx 4 weeks behind (she is approx 3lbs in weight from scan measurements), had the doppler to measure blood flow too and apparently the readings are high, need to have twice weekly monitoring, had steroids to mature her lungs.

I see my consultant on Monday so that he can decide whether to keep monitoring me closely or get her out. Good luck, I know just what you are going through, keep us updated. xx

Sort of nice to know someone else is going through the same thing.

Thanks for the comments.

It is a really worrying time not knowing what us going to happen, doc has booked a dpp ? scan for monday as long as everything is ok then oh will beallowed home, she should be allowed out for a few hours today as well as it is her birthday.

They have now also found the Group B streptococol virus in her urine, we was given a leafet on it and it seems they need to clear it from her urine and then she will need to be put on a intrevenous drip during labour.

It never rains but it pours - but I suppose the good thing is that they have detected this and are taking preventative steps as it seems if baby get's it then it can be life threatening to new borns.

I'm not sleeping at the moment, probably only really started eating properly last night (took her a McDonalds into hospital), I know it is wrong but I just can't help worrying.

I'll be happy monday once the scan is done and and hopefully all is ok and she is home.

I hope baby stays in there a while longer and is ok. If baby was born now it would stand a good chance. If it makes you feel better my OH was born nearlu 28 yearsl ago at 28 weeks and survived! and he is perfectly ok. And my own mother was born some 50 years ago at 30 weeks old and obviously survived. so with modern technology I have faith in.

And as for you worrying course you are, thats not wrong my OH is worrying also. Apprently he is scared I and the baby will die as someone scared him with one of their stories the other day. He will be worse than me when I go into labour and I am worried how he will cope not me.
