the Diabetes clinic thought my blood sugar levels were excellent.

Then I was sent for my scan....... in the maternal fetal assessment unit. The first set of measurements were off.... the head and abdomen were massive. So she measured again and got a better head measurement, abdomen was still big.

Upshot is that they think the baby weighs just under 6 lbs. at 32 +4 weeks.

then we saw the doctor, and she basically said they would decide after the next scan, but would probably want to induce me early. I immediately said I wasn't interested in being induced and was happy to wait until the baby was ready to come out and I start labour naturally. So she then started in on the risk of waiting and shoulder dystocia..... but noted down that I didn't want to be induced in my notes.

She also wouldn't say what they would guesstimate the final weight of the baby would be in 7 weeks but they might at 36 after seeing if the baby kept on the same trajectory, went up or more in line with the other measurements.

So, we wait and see!

I haven't had any growth scans or anything like that. I'm terrified they're going to tell me that Baby Girl is going to be a 10lb'er or something. Also good for you for letting them know what you're wanting. Think they'll honour your wishes?

glad all is well, so weird when i had my scan yesterday and the belly measurement was large on mine and i was spending all day today worying about shoulder dystocia (google is bad) lol spoke to mw and she said abdominal measurement doesn't always correspond to big shoulders. good for you refusing induction hun x x

Glad your blood sugar's good. Hopefully LO's growth will even out so that there are no difficult decisions to make later on!

I'll be talking to my Mw tomorrow to see what she thinks how big the baby might be.. they seemed to think 6 lb was really big... it was 99.1 percentile! But f course they could easily be off by 1 lb.....

The doc was a bit surprised that I was so definite about not having in induction - seemed to think it was an automatic thing to do.....

Oh my gosh!!! My little man is only on the 10th centile y the skin of his teeth....4lb 6oz....roughly at 35 weeks!!! Glad they are keeping an eye on you hun xx

what i'm wondering is that if my blood sugar levels are so good, would this baby be this big anyway? they run in my family, and my OH's family too. I bet I would have been a big baby if i hadn't been a twin, and 1 month early.
