Natural Remedies

Just wondering who else is taking some, or plans to?

I've started Evening Primrose Oil (oral capsules) and Red Raspberry Leaf (tea) today. I wasn't looking forward to the tea as a few people posted saying it was gross but I like it

Apparently Red Raspberry Leaf is great post labour too as it helps the muscles get back to normal. (we'll see lol)

Im taking raspberry leaf tablets (cant stand the taste of the tea!) I took these with both my other two pregnancies too xXx
Also I have some arnica pills to take once I go into labour, I took them with my son as they are meant to help relieve any internal bruising. They are tiny little pills and you can take them hourly once labour begins.
I forgot to take them with me when I went into labour with my daughter though!

What is Evening Primrose meant to do? do I need to add that to my shopping list??

I'm not planning on taking anything. I'm not convinced by a lot of it and hope to be able to jsut wait to go naturally, however sick I get of being pregnant! (Famous last words! lol) I am hoping to see the aromatherapy trained midwives at the hospital soon to get something for the labour though. I also have a homeopathic birthing pack for the labour and postnatally. Since the research linking raspberry leaf tea to pre-eclampsia our MW team are not recommending it any more.

I was thinking about getting arnica too. I've got lavender oil to use during labour as it helps relax me (just a couple drops on a warm facecloth).

EPO is like Raspberry Leaf. It's a natural method of 'ripening the cervix and preparing the body for labour'. It can either be taken orally (as I'm doing) or inserted into the cervix. The former method is supposed to take longer to work so that's why I chose it, plus I didn't fancy putting oil up there!

Have a look here: http://www.maternitycorner.com/mcmag.../preg0007.html

If you take arnica, remember that mint, coffee and menthol all interfere with it and will stop it from working.
