Sorry I've not been online in a while. My white blood cells have been higher than the normal range since my first tests. Neither the doctor nor the midwife has been concerned about them. I think they are always high because I am always fighting glandular fever. Plus I've been ill loads during pregnancy, usually close to when I get the tests done!

White blood cells in your pee indicated a possible UTI. White blood cells in your blood means you are fighting infection somewhere in your body. It's not necessarily serious either way but if they are too high then antibiotics will likely be the answer, especially for UTI.

hi there! White cell counts actually go up naturally in pregnancy, for most will still be within range. But can be perfectly normal if other possible causes (infection) are excluded!

Its usually that you've just had a virus or a bug, or that your body is fighting one. Nothing too serious to worry about. If they are too high then your midwife will request a repeat set of bloods for a couple of weeks time just to make sure that they are going down. xx

If its of any comfort, mine were raised with my last baby and I had to have 3 sets of bloods taken in all. They did go down slightly by the last blood test, but were still higher than the normal level. xx
