| Big Baby Hi i had a 32 week scan on 16/09/08 to check that my placents had moved which it had and all is fine, but as soon as she put the scanner on my belly and saw the babs head thats when she said that she'd check babs growth.
It then turn out that the babs is BIG and that his weight is 5lb 15oz and is on the 97th centile (not quite sure what that means).
If anyone has been through the same experience or any advice it would be great?
Seeing consultant in 2weeks and see what she says .
hope to get reply! | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | Honey, that's on the larger size of average but try not to worry. I've had 2 growth scans so far, the most recent one on Wednesday, at 33+6. And estimated fetal weight for my bubs is already 8lb 11oz!!!
I've had diabetes tests already which have been clear, but gotta have more done next week, and another growth scan in 2 weeks.
The main thing is that the docs are monitoring you. Keep us updated hun.

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm not sure what the normal size range is for that many weeks....I gave birth to an 8 pounds 10 ounce little girl not long ago and it's not that bad Like the above poster, the main thing is that you are both being monitored and your little one is healthy |

I'm Currently Feeling: | When i was 36 weeks, my son was measuring 9 lbs+ on the ultrasound machine...so my doctor did a c/s at 38 weeks and he was 10 lbs! Theres nothing wrong with a big baby...doctors call them "healthy" babies for a reason! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | At least they are monitoring you and not just leaving you. They will probably give you another growth scan and if your LO is still measuring on the bigger size they might induce you earlier.
My bump is measuring bigger but i haven't had a growth scan yet, she's also breech!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My friends baby was in the 98th percentile which meant he was a very tall/long baby. Then again his Dad is about 6'5. But he looked just gorgeous, most beautiful baby I've ever seen. And they never really seem to look big, these big babies still seem tiny!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | 97th centile means that out of 100 babies, your baby measures as one of the three biggest. We have big babies in my family, my niece was mahooosive, natural birth tho and no problems whatsever. she's a lovely kid. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm hoping for a slightly smaller baby!! But as long as he/she is healthy and we have no major birth problems then i suppose i dont care. The idea of the big babies does scare me a little!! |

| Thanx everyone for the messages ,my first who is 9 years now was 8lb 12 1/2oz and my girl whos 3 was 8lb 5oz.
Just hoping that its not going to be any bigger than the first as i was in labour for 31 hours didnt have a good time with him.
But as long as babs is healthy thats all that matters. | | | | Status: Online
