I'm Currently Feeling: | Angie - yep the receptionist definitely said serotonin, but maybe she said it wrong! I wish I could remember the other two things she said... Should've asked again.
Shri - thanks for that. Does sound a bit farfetched! And yes, apart from the nausea and usual preg stuff I'm fine. I feel like total shit all the time, but it's definitely preg-shit!
Carrie - maybe I should call them back and ask what the other things were. I can find out online then or from my doctor pal who knows everything! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I phoned the GP, apparently it's not from the bloods the doctor had done at all but my MW bloods that were done on Monday. My iron's on the low side and my white blood cells are up a bit so he wants me in to do B12 (seems to be an iron related thing) to double check. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | It's annoying as I've enjoyed being smug that I've never had low iron even though I'm a veggie! Hope they don't put me on iron tablets. It would be fair to say I eat like shit at the moment, I guess I'll just have to try harder. Maybe take those prenatal vits that have been gathering dust for so long... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Perhaps (and i'm just guessing) she did say serotonin because when i was suffering from bad headaches (that would make me throw up) i asked the cmw and she informed me that these headaches are because of a chemical imbalance in the brain. Serotonin and one of the pregnancy hormones (can't remember what it was called) meet in the brain and if one is at a higher level than the other it can cause you to suffer from bad headaches/migranes and sickness. She told me a fair percentage of ladies suffer from this until your body gets used to the chemical reaction and readjusts. So perhaps, this is what they're going to look for in your bloods. Like i say though i'm only guessing i'm not a medical expert and that conversation was a while ago now so i can't quite remember the whole convo but thats the gist of it! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I think she said ferritin (Fs and Ss mingle on the phone! lol) which is an iron test. Apparently low Vitamin B12 can also cause anaemia so I guess that's what they are testing for.
Thinking about it, I'm not worried about the high white blood cells. My first bloods at booking in showed WBC the tiniest bit over the normal range, I think they probably always are because of the glandular fever still kicking around. Plus I've got an infection in an ear piercing. Also I've only just come through the worst cold ever so was probably still fighting it on Monday. I'm sure one of these will explain the WBCs! Just the low iron that grates... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had to be tested again for ferretin and it is iron related. i ended up on iron tablets which haven't been too bad at all in my experience. Your poo goes black (TMI) but i've got loads more energy. I have been on them for 4 weeks now and iron levels are back up. Hope you get sorted out hon x |
