With my second baby I had a sweep at 9 am. During the day I had BH's, irregular and not very strong (well, líke you I'd already had a baby so I knew how strong the real ones are hehe). Then out of nowhere at about 8 pm, a big one hit and then again 30 minutes later. I knew that was IT because they felt different. I can't really explain it but I sorta just knew. They kept me up the whole night and I had to concentrate and breathe through them.

So, anyway, lol .. I do think that the BH's can change suddenly and become real ones So I hope it'll happen for you soon. Just keep using the EPO, rasberry leaves and plenty of sex. During my BH's I also used the breast pump for nipple stimulation.

BH's are real contractions, they are called practice contractions earlier on because they are meant to be irregular and mild. Eventually as your body becomes ready to give birth they get stronger because the uterus is a muscle and the BH's are the uterus's way of getting into shape.

The pains you feel the couple weeks leading up to the actual labour are the cervix softning and the pressure building on it as the baby descends and engages. As the cervix gets softer and begins to dilate it hurts more and more and the contractions start working harder and hurt more.

Its interesting how our bodies are programmed and just seem to know what to do.

When I was at the hospital the other night the reason why I was told I could not work
was because the contractions I was having were so regular and I am showing signs of hypertension (which can lead to pre-eclampsia). If I hadn't gone up to the maternity ward in the middle of my shift I likely would have gone into early labour on Fri night.

If you start getting period pains and bad back pain that lasts you should get checked out!!! Or at your next appointment you should see if you have dilated at all.
