Yeah, I tend to have days where I have BH one after the other, really tight and uncomfortable but then the next day I'll hardly have any at all or very few throughout the day. I find it really annoying when they happen whilst I'm walking, sometimes I have to stop for a breather until it passes. You're not alone, they are annoying

If they get painful or you feel sick then you should go to the doctor.

Ok, I'm confused. I know Braxton Hicks are practice contractions, am I right??? When I was lying down for my scan yest, doc sid, oooooh, you're having a contraction. I looked confused, looked t my belly as she was feeling the big lump and I said well if it's gonna by like this then it will be a doddle!! Then she said no, your having a Braxton Hick, how many times day do you get them??? I had absolutely no idea what she was talking bout s I felt nothing, bubs was just moving a little, that's it, nothing unusual. Later, as I was on the heart monitor for bubs, I had to click a button when I felt her move. When we were done, doc said, oh look, you had 2 contractions. WHEN????????? I have no idea what the difference is between feeling bubs move and a Braxton Hick, can anyone tell me please????

This is my second and BH still have me !!!

I've only realised over the past week or so that I've been getting them too.

Charlie - They are pretty much painless - sometimes a bit uncomfy at the most - and the best way I'd describe them is it feels a bit like baby's pushing it's back really hard out against the top/middle of my bump. It goes rock hard for a while then either I move or baby moves and the hardness subsides.

Blob - some days I get them one after another and they are really noticeable then other times I just notice an odd one. I've never timed them though.

As far as i know braxton hicks is your tummy tightening, but no pain, a contraction it tightens but then you have cramps with it, bit like strong period pains. With my other 2 kids I never felt any braxton hicks but with this one I get them loads.

Thanks for that. Well in that case, I've been having tightening for ages!!!! If doc had explained this yesterday (or maybe she thought I should know or her English wasn't good enough) I could have told her that I've had this for a while, not ages, but a while.

Thanks again

Apparently we have BH all the way through pregnancy, it's our uterus contracting as it grows. Apparently some women feel them, others don't and they can be felt at different stages during pregnancy. This is my first and I've been feeling BH since I was 28 weeks, they don't hurt, they just feel tight, as though someone is pulling a tight belt around my tummy and it lasts a few seconds to maybe a minute or 2, they can be uncomfortable but they're not painful.

My cousin said she never felt any during her pregnancy and when I told my Mum about them, well she'd never heard of them at all, they didn't have BH 'back in her day' lol.

I wouldn't worry if you feel them or even if you don't. But they obviously show up on the monitoring equipment they use at hospitals so at least you know you're body is doing as it should.
