Feeling really down

i went for GTT test(Glucose Tolerance Test) on Wednesday as the midwives had found sugar in my wee, got results today and I am border line for haveing gestational diabetes

I have got to go to a clinic next Thursday where they will discuss my diet and give me some more info.

Feeling really fed up that things arent going straight forward and I could end up harming my baby.

Has anyone else got this????

Hi Hun

My colleague at work had GD hun n she went on to have a straight forward labour and a very happy n healthy baby boy and the GD as completely disappeared from her and likle one hasn't suffered at all.

Hey, chin up hun.... it really is quite common and maybe just something you ate the day prior to the test.

I am sure everything will be absolutely fine.... xx They will probably give you a little jabber to test your levels twice a day and go from there....

xx

I haven got it, but have had this test. I also work closly with diabetes, and although not GD i do know, that like Donna said above, it does disapear after the baby is born, it can in an unlikely event cause type 2 diabetes, but that is controlled through diet, and tablets, this is quite rare. GD although they say has risks, these risks are really minimal, they say these per regulations, as a kind of covering, i.e. if your alleric to nuts, you always find on packets of food "may contain traces of nuts" it's to cover themselves. The risk for the baby is that it may cause a larger baby, thats all, but like others have said, people who have GD have gone onto have a normal healthy baby, average weight etc.
Stay positve hun, keep that chin up. Look forward to being able to hold your child in your arms. Hugs
