Hey guys, thanks for all your support!!
Well, she's been and gone and it was all a bit wishy washy really.
Her opening words were that the midwfe in question wasn't thinking properly on the day because her mother had just died.
Well, I'm sorry for her loss, but if she was so distraught, she should never have been at work. By doing so, she compromised my care and that of other patients. I said that she hadn't given me informed consent for anything carried out on the day and had not explained a thing to me. I demanded written acknowledgement that the midwife (and the rest of the team for that matter) would use this as a learning curve. I understand that sometimes people get complaicent when they have been doing a job for a while,so use this as a wake up call for the lot of them.
I also told her about the phone call made by the co-ordinator the following day and she looked genuinly shocked by it. She more or less said that the phone call should never have happened and certainly not in the tone that it was. She is now going away to investigate this other woman too.
She generally didn't come across as a manager type - she wasn't firm and didn't seem to have planned what was going to happen before she got here. All very strange really. As a manager myself, I would have been far more prepared and at least have brought written statements with me, from the people concerned, to show that I had investigated it.
Anyway, it was basically left that I would never see this midwife again during my care and this would not compromise me in any way.
Not sure what to think about the whole thing really.

Good for you sticking to your guns hun. I've just had an awful midwife visit (am gonna post after) it's really upset me actually. It's not a nice experience. Everyone has bad days but when we're going into there care (even for 10 minutes) u want to be treated pleasently, being pregnant can be stressful enough. Make sure you receive your letter from them and it doesn't just get cast aside. I hope you're feeling a little bit better now in the thought you won't have to see her again
