Ours are on, 1) breastfeeding 2) normal labour 3) abnormal labour 4) after birth
Its strange how much they vary between where you live as i thought they would be much more physical rather than lots of listening

I've got mine starting soon too - they said bring pillows - does that mean I'm going to have to get into positions and things or (hopefully) just mean that we have to sit on the floor?

We had our first one last week which was about the birth and we got chance to share our worries and ask lots of questions. The midwife was really good and the whole thing was relaxed!
We have our second tonight which is about pain relief and the partners role (but my husband is away with work so I'm taking my mum!!!) and then at our third we get to tour the labour ward.

I had my first last week. Iv got 3 classes to go to each 2 & 1/2 hours long.. We sat in a big circle and introduced ourselfs to each other, Everyone was very shy and it was quite funny! Then midwife spoke about signs of labour & labour its self.. our fears and what we are most excited about. Induction of labour and what to expect for our hospital.
This week she is going to talk about pain relief i think and some other stuff. And then after that its about when baby is actually here and our aftercare!

All my friends told me the group was rubbish here and not to bother going but i did enjoy it and it was usefull, Although i knew most of it from what iv read on here!!! But its still good to hear it coming from a pro midwife!

I can't tell you what to expect as I haven't been fortunate to get in any classes in our area, but enjoy and have fun.

We opted not to do the classes as I am having a c-section no matter what. I did get to go with my best friend when she was pg with my godson, and it was fun from what I remember!

I went to my first one yesterday. Lots of introductions, then we watched a video of a woman going through labor and birth -- it was freaky because she was so calm and zen the whole time, it was like giving birth was a breeze! Plus it was an old tape, so there was some amusingly big 80's hair going on.

Then she talked about different relaxation techniques, like focal points, etc. All in all about 2 hrs long, and really fun. You'll have a blast!

Hi ladies and bumps.... i just joined this site. Thought i wasnt going to bother joining one of these but, after reading some of your stuff on the forums you all made me feel bubbly as well as bumpy. ...so i couldnt resist. I'm expecting my first...about 32 wks now and so the nerves are kicking in a bit. Been out of the country for a few months and now in UK. I'm hoping that i can get into antenatal classes but, from what i've read, that might not be possible unless i go private. So much to do! I cant even see my MW as she's on holiday...i didnt even know they were allowed such a thing! LOL

Anyways...looking forward to sharing more with you guys over the next few months.
