Early induction...

Hi

Does anyone know what is the earliest they would consider for induction assuming the pregnancy had all gone well??

This is my third healthy pregnancy, im 36 weeks and the midwife has arranged for me to see a consultant on tuesday about induction as im in so much pain everyday with SPD, including severe pain in groin, back and hip.

Im so eager to know if theres any chance they might say to induce next week!!

xx

Oh, I'm afraid I don't know. Our hospital will induce after 10 days overdue but obviously your case is a bit different with the SPD. I hope you get good news.

Every pregnancy is individual so therefore there is no right or wrong answer to this, It depends on your medical condition really.
My hospital wont induce until after 14 days overdue!!! in normal circumstances.
I think you'll have to wait until your consultant appointment, good luck x

i've pretty bad SPD and will prob have a large baby- but have been told that this is not a reason to have an iduction- however as I am only 33 wks I'm sure they don't want to commit to telling me this early that I could. We'll see how bad I get at 36 wks-
The Doc's are so experienced and will do whatever is best for you and babs.
Hope your pain gets better.

i didnt ask for induction, in fact i was against it at first thought, coz i was induced last time but my midwife said to see consultant. When your in such agony every night, in tears and not sleeping, u just want it to be over, tahts why i agreed to see consultant.

I'm not sure on this, I think it varies. But I really hope your SPD eases up soon, and you get the best outcome hun.

I have a medical condition that needs 5 days treatment before I go naturally (would be life threatening to me to go naturally)

Consultant has said they will look into all the factors (size and position of baby, condition of cervix etc), and prob induce around 38 weeks.

Baby will be full term from 37 weeks, but if the baby is not head down and at least partly engaged, there's a risk of cord prolapse (cord coming first) which is why the induction might not be able to take place early.

HTH. xx
