Another question....

Does anyone know if baby's head can engage even if they are back to back??? Sory if this is a silly question.....

I think it can, it just means that you will experience labour a bit differently... lots of back pain, and contractions being felt more in the back than the front. Not quite sure

Once she's engaged back to back is there no chance of her turning??? I know when I was with my sister when Seth was born they said he kept turning......so surely if she is engaging then she could still turn????

She could engage and then un-engage.... I would have thought that her turning whilst already engaged would be pretty uncomfortable... Maybe that's what you're experiencing.. as she's engaging, she's twisting round at the same time... the cervical pain would make a load of sense then !!!

I have just read that it's difficult for a back to back baby to engage.... likened it to square peg, round hole'. She may have already turned to the right position?

I read the square peg thing too.

She feels like she's the right way most the time - although my belly sometime feels a bit squishy and then I wonder.....

My dd was back-back and never engaged until I was in labour (I was induced at term +10) My mw had told me it would be highly unlikely for her to engage whilst back-back. They usually turn in labour tho, apparently only 5%are delivered posterior. My dd turned eventually, after I had pushed for 2 hours!!!

If your baby is back-back when you go into labour, its best to stay active, preferably on all fours for as long as you can manage.

Good luck

My firstborn was back to back, and he was engaged from about 37 weeks ish, so it can happen. I had an epi while in labour, so they could leave me for one hour while fully dilated, so he could turn. It did the trick!!
